Good day guys. Just came home. Took nightt rain straight from exam so could not post before.
I will be brief cause sharing experience is real only after score. Until that it is called moans, grones, stones.
So i will tell whats interesting f or everyone, leave my emotions and organized sentences after. At least when i get normal sleep.

So simplle impression: i didnt find anythig unexpectable there.
Only unexoactable thing was that i had ten minutes minimum after each block, even more if there were drug ad/abstract. Which was as i expected 10 qs
So expect four blocks with drug ad or abstract in it. And ofcourse mark them. This is only true way to be able to complete exam. Otherwise u screw up whole block and screw up abstract and screw uo yourself and whole exam.
And they were doable.

So i got another good news and bad news
Bad news except drug ads i got lot of tricky biostatistica in the same blocks
Good nesws: its not the biostats y can study anywhere so dont worry. I mean it is just something by itself, maybe some simple usual qs butdont sweat about anything, its something else.
I cat remember anything important or impressive.
Sleep well and dont even dare to study day before. It wont help believe me, y cant revise anything.

So simple summary: probably 70% questions i made them.
Others vague. Same concepts tested twice to confuse you, y see im using same words as my friends told us in theree xoeriences,
Come in we all have been there once so. Dont bea fraid and scared, studying is far scary and difficult
Yeah main thing: qs are normal length, some are enormous but believe me they maybe even better then small shitty questions.
Ok thats it for now, and i should complain about psychyatry, when i start complaining about that it means its real pooh. When y just cant exclude any of those 50/50 choice.
Okay i dont wanna remember anything now.
If i get score at least 240 i will be happy i wont believe it, when y write uws elf assesment it feels luke that just imagine 8 blocks.
I had trouble with break time management didnt so anything just time was flying so i managed to finished blocks earlier like last blocks, and i forced myself to eat like normal food. Tried one redbull, half chocolate and water.
Take care guys.
Iw as very calm and fast. Didnt thought much about what i had no idea but tried to make good of those qs i could really make sense of.
Internal peds interspersed, small amount of gyn, preventive, obs, surgery equally probably i really dont remember anything to be honest.
It was outerbody. Yeah and ir emember somewhere in last block got some drug adverse effect and said oh thats my forst oharm question. Of course excapt cardiac stuff. 2-3 immunodefs. No single step1 type q. Yrah and a lot really a lot whats most likely diagnosis or whats cause of blablabla meaning to choose diagnosis. Iw as kind of lucky to have drug adds in the middle 4 blocks. So seriously last blocks were tough but i was relaxed and not rushing myself tod eath. But believ me guys y have to rash yrself, im a fast reader so dont calm yrself on this.

Okay thanks everyone. I hope i didnt screw it up.

Default My Step 2ck experience

Hello guys!!

Sorry that it took my a while to make a post. I had to fly to berlin for the exam and last night i managed to get home and finally recover with some sleep.

what can i say? ITS A DOABLE EXAM guys!
I got to the test center at 8 am and i was the only one taking it, so the guy offered me to start earlier and i took advantage of it, i left the center just before 5.

My exam breaks and timing:
i wrote the first two blocks back to back, then took a small break at the desk before the 3rd block and then went on to take that. After i took a small beak and went downstairs to get something to eat, I returned to my desk and wrote 4,5 blocks and then took again a small break. Then i wrote the 6, took a break at the desk, wrote 7 block, then small break and finally 8th. Half way through my 8th block i began to lose my concentration and had to read questions twice, my head started to hurt literally I gathered all the power that i had and finished it.

Getting out of the exam i still couldnt believe that ive just completed this exam, and even today im still shocked because i was so used to my daily routine of studying for ck and now i have nothing to do but vacation for a few days

TIMING IS VERY IMPORTANT! i managed to finish every block with about 15-20 minutes left, i marked 10-15 questions, but the last block i had only 5 minutes left when i finished it. Every time i saw a drug add or abstract i skipped it and went on to complete the rest of the block, leaving them for the last questions (didnt want to jeopardize my time by staying and thinking too long at those abstracts/drug adds)

Exam layout:
IM - 60%
OBGYN - 15%
PEDS - 10%
PSYCH/EPIDEM/BIOSTAT - 10%
SURG/EMERG - 5%

about 50 % of questions were medium difficulty, about 30% were easy, and 15% hard ones, the rest 5% were the "WTF" questions about which i just had to go with my gut.

What I had:
- 2 drug adds and 3 abstracts (they put my one abstract on the last block! so be careful that the same can happen to you). essentialy they are very doable, what i would advise is to know your RR, OR and Confidence Intervals from biostats, since majority of the questions were directed towards that manner.
- i had quote a few EKGs, CXR, and about 5-7 CT/MRI's all together. They werent that difficult, i had one EKG which was confusing, but the rest were clear and the same goes for radiology
- i didnt expect but i had about 15 dermatology questions, some had only case descriptions others had pictures
- i had about 4-5 questions with cardiology ascultation animations but they were quite simple, just know your sounds and also read the history carefully so that you can already figure out what they may talk about before actually listening to the patient
- REVIEW YOUR STEP 1 NEUROLOGY! Especially for brain blood supply, and optic tract lesions!
- on biostats i had 2 questions regarding NNT, 2 more on PPV/NPV, and 1 on sensitivity
- there were quite a few questions with "increased/decreased" tables, for example how will the electrolytes be in a patient with DKA and etc.
- psychiatry was mostly focusing on MDD, BPD, schizo, some personality disorders and INTOXICATIONS/WITHDRAWALS (had about 5 questions on that)
- the ethics questions were few but straightforward except for 1 or 2 where i had no idea which answer to pick
- Neuro had alot of stroke questions and managment of them
- Know the side effects of anticonvulsants, serotonin sdr, complications of antipsychotic therapy and side effects of certain drugs: for example if a pt comes with disease A and he is obese and he needs an antipsychotic, dont give him olanzapine or etc.
- Infectious was big on STI's, pneumonias, meningitis and some infectious endocarditis
-Rheumato was very straighforward, dont forget about SCFE or Legg-Calve-Perthe which age groups they are common in and what is their management and radiographic appearance
- OBGYN was heavy on pregnancy complications, as well as post-partum complication and what tests to do next in their management. dont forget about TORCHES and IUGR, what causes them and what they present like!!
- there were about 10 questions on breast pathology, but nothing special
-nephrology was heavy on electrolyte findings in certain types of diseases
-pulmonology was mostly COPD exacerbations and lung cancers and some asthma questions. Know the FEV1/FVC, RV and TLC and how they are in certain lung diseases.
-know the cardiology algorithm for CABG (when is it indicated)
- Peds were mostly about kids with pneumonias, meningitis, congenital heart defects (prognosis, managment), immunodeficiencies (very typical presentations)
- endocrine know your diabetes managment, which drugs should be given when, for example dont give metformin in a renal problem. Some questions were about primary PTH. LOTS of questions on girls who didnt have their menarche yet (learn from gyneco the progesterone challange sequences and what a positive or negative result means and what will be the management)

Some pointers:
- KNOW YOUR ALGORITHMS! It will make the exam a whole lot simpler. "Which is the best initial test? Which is most accurate? Which is the best next step?"
- Manage your time WISELY, leave the drug adds and abstracts for the end!
- Dont forget your STEP 1!
- do as many questions (do kaplan, uworld, rx if you can!) as you can and do as many self assessments as you can
- use kaplan for foundation, MTB and FA for solidifying

This is all i can recall for now. If you have any questions guys feel free to ask and ill be happy to answer!

REMEMBER the exam IS DOABLE! study hard and dont give up!! Even though tamta and i already finished, we are still supporting you guys.

I will update you on my score in february (5th) and if its good, i will for sure share my schedule.

BEST OF LUCK! KEEP GOING!!!!

So lets agree pn one thing: yes uworld mtb cocnepts are enough. And no we wont be able to answer all the questions but we will do exam. How we will know after three wednesdays.
So dont bother yr head. Stick with basic thinga know the basic things.
Because on exam day performance will depend on how well y will recognize and make yr way through the basic things that are familiar to you . Because exqm will make your softest and easiest concepts so tricky that y will not be able to choose corrrect answer and be happy with your choice.
So no worries. Be strong healthy mentally and physically and you wil be like a robot after two blocks believe me.
Good luck everyone
It was m pleasure being with y.
Thanks for making this thread so active and helpful. I hope for the best.

So moral of the story: read answers and q first then start to liok for that specific thing in abstract/add
Abstract is usually harder: know what to pay attention on
Yr abstract simply can not imply to yr given patient
He may br not that severe, not in age range
Conclusions, methods, statiaical data ratios side effect comparisons focus on thise
I personally work on eliminating given answer choices and sinply getting down to 50/50 or to one probably correct answer

was just thinking to start exam results thread but its too early..
i dont want to get on facebook and watch there how so many people are waiting how low score i will get

im roaming on CS forum step3 and NCLEX (nursing)
started CS reading. i have done that once basics. and reading mistakes thread. also starting to print some black scripts of my exam experience
it is funny how after passing exam you just fee empty and dont think there is anything important you can tel to others.
it just sucks everything out of you

i may sound stupid but i prefer to finish all exams than start from first line if i ever get in residency read experiences aready for step3 so although im not ECFMG certified and havenot even got my CK score im already planning.. to keep my mind moving on.. if i get satisfiying score i will get some q bank for step3 kaplan probably with MTB3. which fortunately i havenot read for IM and will feel like something new. i will do everything slowly quietly that i havenot done for step2
i even got to know that HOUSTON is most IMG friendly centre.

had very active day at work today.
there are lot of people who wait for my LOW score for my failure.. lot of pepople like deputies and even top managers wanting me to not get back to work but lot a lot of doctors nurses, other stuff just jumping on me from happiness and waiting for my success i did 3-5 IV access today and have 3 operations tomorrow.
it seems like im just happy of finishing this exam.. although no results yet.
i usually laugh on these exams they are like 9 months being pregnant one big dy of giving birth. but there is no baby for untill next 3 weeks.
its like acute post exam stress disorder which starts within first good night sleep after exam and completely resoves withi 3 wednesdays. its extended for CS

god help us.
and one of our friends said, he is also waiting for CK score i hope he will not be angry of me telling this, but im thinking on his words only: i had so much energy when i started step1 and now after step2 it is even worse..
these are largest steps of our life and this is more mental war i guess.. so that is the thing we can fight with, we may not get high scores but we can fight mentaly and win mental wars.. and honestly i dont care if i get low score.. i have done everything i could.
this exam has gave me hard hardest times, hardest months of my life.. great knowledge and best friends i could ever get.. thanks god for that.
and thanks to my friends without whom I WOULD NOT BE AWAITING FOR MY CK RESULTS NOW.

i guess i still belong to this thread and have right to post and moan as much as i want

U admitted that these are biggest steps , gives the hardest time and a big mental war. Difficult to sustain. But, I will win this I know.

Yes i did. But cant tell y percantege exactly around 75-80 probably.
Yes they were very helpfull especially adds/ abstract exactly same style as on real one. Do it day before or whenever easy maybe but i liked them, and made stupid mistakes as usual.

OK. And would you say they are really easy compared to actual exam or of the same sort? length and difficulty wise? thanks

So true. We know we have to take this exam no matter what, so we might as well enjoy the journey and study with body, mind and soul. Like tamta said, this is a mental war, so lets be focused completely on the exam. We can do it.

I agree with ur decision of taking the exam . 227 is a good score. My problem is I studied from multiple sources kinda messed up. I cannot revise things in 7 days like tamta.Trying hard to summarize and cut down all the unnecessary steps. I need at least 1 more month.

So, in the last months what is ur resource of study. Are u able to revise kaplan at all?

I'm revising only uworld at this point..not even MTB...Even I cannot study like Tamta..I can study only 6-7 hrs a day..In that short duration, I prefer to do uworld questions..Its got all the imp points and I remember seeing a couple of questions on NBME 6 that were exactly like uworld.

polok kaplan revision in last month is not good idea i think,. because all you want in the end is to organize everything to keep your mind calm. if you didnot use MTB i ant revise to start it in last month but it really is a very good book. it has everything + UWORLD. i know it sounds same but it is as it is..

rockstar dont even think about postponing you know what were my scores same as your NBMES even lower so move on, you will never be in better shape then now.

Yes FRED material is similiar. as i said i didnot find questions unbelievably and undoably long. some were whole page. some means very little number of them maximum 4-5 in block. others were same length as UWORLD. PERIOD.
and again big questions means you got lot of info, more info to help you find ut better answer.

good luck everyone

Default Proposed plan

Hey guys!

I have been pretty inactive, dead to say the least, on this thread. Initially made an over ambitious plan of sitting for this exam in Jan, got disappointed and derailed by my step 1 score. Anyway shifted the plan to 3rd week of Feb long time back hence wasn't posting here.

Following is what I have done so far:

-Read Kaplan and Mtb twice before starting uworld.
-10 blocks of uworld remaining.
-Current uw average 70% first run, random and timed mode.

Following is what I plan on doin:

-Finish remaining uw then a quick read of Mtb and uw wrong questions in a week.
-Nbme 6 by Feb 3.
-uw 2nd run+Kaplan medicine, surgery(vignettes), obgyn.
-Take nbme 4 after around 17 days.
-Final sprint through mtb
- uwsa and FRED and then exam day.

Let me know what you guys think of the plan? All the best to those taking the exam soon! A big shout out to those who have taken it already and given back to the thread by sharing their experiences, Yanichyts and Tamta in particular. I will post my nbme 6 score soon and keep you guys updated, perhaps most of you would be done by then.

1. dont be discouraged, since every nbme is heavier on one subject than the other, in other words the amount of questions on a certain subject may differ, for example nbme 6 can be predominated by internal medicine questions, and nbme 4 by obgyn and peds
2. work on your weaknesses. look at your borderline subjects and make sure you polish them out
3. keep working your best! after the exam it will all pay off with a good feeling that you get off your chest!

If you dont mind ill put in my two cents here. looks like a good plan, although i would to subject wise questions to help reinforce what youve read. leave the random mode for the actual assessments you will take. Also try to take all the nbme's and uwsa, remember the more the merrier. dont rely too heavily on mtb since its a great source mostly for internal med, make sure that you have a good foundation in other subjects from kaplan (especially obgyn i think kaplan was the best for it). If you have time, id advise you to do another qbank (kaplan/usmlerx), since it will give you a variety of questions to work with and also will test the same material but asked in a different manner.

here is a printscreen of my last month of prep.

good luck!!

No delays dont even think about that. you are on great track.. move one. believe me postponing will only make things worse, and believe me ding CS well and getting ready for applications in time is much more important then even 5 points more on step2. take care stay focused. you are good. i like
your manner of having normal life together with preparation. keep on same way!!

rockstar dont even think about postponing you know what were my scores same as your NBMES even lower so move on, you will never be in better shape then now.

Thanka a Lot. I agree with you. Consolidating your knowledge in high yield material and concepts are the technique I should follow which I understand early

Default Thankyou!

Thankyou for your response! Unfortunately I am almost done with uworld so can't do it subjectwise now and wont be able to reset it for second run since it's only a two months subscription!
I agree on Kaplan obgyn being awesome hence will do it one more time and I too believe relying heavily ONLY on mtb won't work for me.
I have done Kaplan qbank offline subjectwise once. Planning on revising wrong questions now.
The other material I am thinking of revising from fa for step 1is behavioural science, biostats, pharma common drug side effects, immuno, storage disorders and clinical anatomy(limbs, Neuro brainstem lesions and strokes.

Also try to take all the nbme's and uwsa, remember the more the merrier. dont rely too heavily on mtb since its a great source mostly for internal med, make sure that you have a good foundation in other subjects from kaplan (especially obgyn i think kaplan was the best for it). If you have time, id advise you to do another qbank (kaplan/usmlerx), since it will give you a variety of questions to work with and also will test the same material but asked in a different manner.

here is a printscreen of my last month of prep.

good luck!!

ive been using printed summary that we had here on thread. and i didnot have any qs which needed memorization ot childhood immunization chart. like the one in MTB3 pediatrics.
only source can probably be those USPFHJTHAYTT something website but i dont think it deserves your time now.
are you good in Td, and other vaccines and those measures that are given in MTB2. if yes you are good. but i think still you may miss some easy question because of not being sure who specifically gets HEP A vaccine for example. just work on those. i know it is boring reading the same thing in the end i did not get anything from reading cause it was just memorized all in my head visually. but continue doing that. it will help.
good luck cant even imagine mysef in your state already. you are in the most inhumane state now. keep going you will ace exam.

Im good at vaccines, but i dunno who gets PSA levels at what age and who gets a mammogram vs nothing (like a young woman in her early 20s)..Im supposed to be in the most inhumane state right now, but for some odd reason, Im pretty good..Im not affected by the test at all..I have blunted response to everything...To top it off, the smoke detectors have been going off for hours in my apartment these days..May be its the noise that's blunting my response..Thanks for the response Tamta!!

If u have doubt then refer from uspreventiveservicestaskforce.org under recommendations and then adults. Else refer MTb or Kaplan only. That's what I do.

worrying about PSA is useless cause they dont know themselves what to do. you wont get question unclear on hat. if patient demands then do it. mammo 50-74. im not sure already if i remember it correctly
thats a good thing that you feel like that. you will be calm and ace exam. only hope i have right now is my self assessment scores and the fact that i was hard like rock on exam day. lets hope for the best. i got such good news today that i dont even mind lowering my score expectations from 240 to 230

Thank you tamta...I dunno, i think when i dont perform so well on something, it kinda holds me back and i cant think straight..You are right, i should do UWSA..I mean, even if i dont do so well on UWSA, i will still go ahead and take the test..I dont want to wait any further..But thanks a lot for the support!!

Hey guys! So, I took UWSA today and got 236..Not so great, but i realized that my performance is going down with time..So im not going to wait on the test and take it as scheduled..Also, in the 2nd block i freaked out so much that i made really silly mistakes..This happened to me on step 1 too...I froze for the first 30 mins..I hope it doesnt happen on the actual test...I got 73%, 59%, 77% and 82% on the blocks...Now i want to focus on keeping calm on the test day.

This is why i try to stay calm and relaxed all the time..Throughout my step 1 prep, i was comfortable and didnt freak out and on the exam day, i got extremely anxious..Even for step 2, i didnt get nervous till now, but today since im sooo close to the actual test, i got very nervous...I should try not to get so nervous on the exam day.

Congratulations!! You know what, i was saying the same to a friend yesterday, that being done with the exam is a bigger achievement than how well you do on the test..So you have achieved a lot already.

yeah we are here.. and we are people who will keep in mind on february 1 that you are struggling the struggle that we have been through those 9 hours. take care of yourself and do your best. i am sure you will. no freaking outs be hard as rock. and even careless. its better not to care than be terribly nervous.

Hey guys!! Im finally done with the test..Im happy its over..It wasnt the greatest but, its done..I was always good at drugs ads and abstracts..But on the test, i didnt even have enough time to look at it..So i had 4 blocks with drug ads and abstracts and i can say that i didnt read any of them..I just marked whatever..I realized that the abstracts come in 3 questions in a sequence, which sucks..I had a total of 10 abstracts and i know i got them all wrong.....Apart from that, the test, i thought, was pretty much like the NBMEs and uworld..except, theres not enough time..I have no idea how tamta had extra 10 mins..I didnt have any time at all..In fact, in a couple of blocks, i missed the last 2 questions...But, i have made up my mind not to think about the test at all..Cz i know, its going to take a month to get the results..I cant worry about it that long..Thanks to everyone that's been such a huge support..I love you guys..Good luck!!
