I slept really well the night before..I was much more relaxed than for step 1..I think it helps to go to the same prometric center..I was familiar with everything there..I had a really heavy breakfast which helped me all day...I realized there's not a lot of time for step 2 during breaks..So it was a good idea to eat well in the morning..I really think it wasn't a nightmare at all...I learnt a lot during the process and i really enjoyed and value everything i learnt.

Can you please clarify that how many abstracts and drug adds you got in exam........ like you said that you got 10 abstracts each with 3 questions ( that means 30 Qs of abstract only)?????

I'm really sorry about the confusion...I got 4 abstracts questions...2 of them had 2 questions in sequence and 2 had 3 questions in sequence...I didn't know they could come in a sequence of 3...so, if you don't read the abstract properly, you get 3 questions wrong each time.

Default Tamta & Yanichyts! Need your words of wisdom!

Guys after around 4 months of extensive studying! I took my first Self assessment (NBME 6) today and I was really disappointed! I scored 229 (30 wrong).
I really panicked during my first block and of the 30 wrong 16 were from the first block only, was short of time in that block and missed 2 questions. The other blocks went fine had 4 wrong each in blocks 2 & 3 and 7 wrong in the 4th block. I flunked in Gynae in which the entire bar was below borderline! The other week areas were Musculoskeletal and nutritional & digestive disorders.
I thought I could be in shape in another 3 weeks but guess will have to take a couple of extra weeks.

So far I have done UW only once (scored 71%) and I plan on doing UW again and Read MTB 2 for Medicine, MTB 3 for Paeds and Psych (Plus biostatistics from Step 1 FA), Kaplan for OBGYN and Kaplan surgery(Vignettes only). After doing all this in 17-18 days take UWSA. Will book the date after one week if I cross 245!

I am targeting 245+, but this exam is really different and unpredictable! Really hope I manage to improve in the end! Let me know what you guys think about my plan!

The same thing happened to me when i took UWSA. I freaked out and i performed poorly..But its not worth it..I know its hard, but try to be as calm as possible..I made 12 silly mistakes bcz i was nervous..These were things that i totally knew..Try to be calm and take another NBME (4) to decide when you should take the test.

I'm no expert at CK but from what I've gathered, a 70% average on UW = 240+ easily. Had you not panicked, you would have gotten your actual 240 so yeah you should be good to go in a few weeks

My forst self assessment was 221. And i crossed 245. Justs tickw hat you are doing. Calm down your nerves. And everything will be fine.
I know this sounds easy keeping calm but believe me i only scored same as my selfassesments on both steps because i went in there as i had nothing to lose and i have done everything i could. Exam day is a real performance day so keep medium level anxiety and thats it. Good luck

I understand you perfectly. I took NBME 6 last week and I got 2 30 and the previous NBME was 235 .I am looking for more than 240 so I think we just have to keep going studying hard and do the best that we can in the preparation. If we do what we felt we should do the result will be what we want. Good luck

Hey everyone. Since the exam was not administered the first two weeks of January, is there a chance that we could get scores early? I took exam last week of Jan so I'm trying to figure out when scores will be released.

Thanks

dont worry guys, do what you are doing take UWSA for sure. and perfomr well on exam!!!

@arcticsilver if your exam was on thursday, friday wait for score exactly on third wednesday. i dont think there is any chance of getting exams earlier. Think about something else be positive don't worry so much about the score. worry when you open the PDF file with your score and thats it.
good luck take care eeveryone

Default Took the exam

So, finally I took the exam .....such a relief. But have to say it was tougher than expected but not that bad also. I found abstracts really tough. They were in the 3 rd and 4 th block. They were so long and really they had weird 3 questions linked to them. But I didn't get enough time to read them properly as other questions in the block were very long too and most of them wear next step types.....not most likely diagnosis types.
And drug ads were very easy on the other hand.
Medicine, paeds, obygn , surgery questions were usmle world type only and they tested similar concepts.
I had 44 q in normal blocks, 43 in drug ads and 42 in abstracts.
And the last block , the questions are of much smaller length, just 3-4 lines, so that helped.

So finally, thanks everybody on this thread.

So finally, thanks everybody on this thread.
congratulations thats a wonderful feeling of getting free from that monster. reading your experience was like reading my own. exam is same for everyone it depends on how strong we meet it. good luck.

Yeah 150 free questions are golden for drug adds and abstracts especially, they seem easy but quite tricky they are very good right before day of exam or just final days.

I would like to know from those who solved uworld before what was the time frame it took and what are your suggestions regarding solving the questions???

Also how to take notes exactly, do i just read the explanations and move on so i can finish quickly or write the details that i don't know separately.

Cause with what i've tried i can't go faster than 1 block/day (i write things that are missing in MTB and that i don't know in a separate notebook), which will make me finish the qbank in a month and a half, and my exam is at the end of march??

Would like your suggestions please....

Correct Answer

Total Preparation in Days : 131
Average Hours per day : 7 (Last Month 9)
Materials Used
Uworld
MTB 2
MTB 3
KLN (OBGYN, SURGERY, PSY)
Kaplan Q Bank

Stats
Kaplan Q Bank : 67%
Uworld : 68% (Random, Unused, Timed Mode)
NBME 4 : 204 ( 6 weeks out)
NBME 6 : 225 ( 2 weeks out)
UWSA : 228 ( 1 week out)
Free 150 : 84% ( 2 days before)
Real Score : 235

I hope this helps someone. I am an average student, i freaked out after NBME 4 results and didn't think its possible. I worked very hard after NBME 4 and got this. It is doable.
