Unhappy Uwsa 210

Hey guys i did a uwsa today and got 210. Not happy with it at all. I think I can get at least over 220 if I delay my ck test for 2 weeks and take it in the sept 22-27 week. I think the scores would come out oct 16.

My question is would that be too late for this years match? Let me know what u guys would do. Thanks!

Do not rush a USMLE exam. A lower score will stick with you when applying to residency and to fellowship as well.

If you're ready, then go ahead and take it. You must reach your target score in a self-assessment before going in for the real thing though. Otherwise, consider the difficult option of postponing the match.

Even just considering postponing the match and applying next year is very hard. I understand and I feel your pain.
The same thing happened to me and I decided to postpone to get a "safe" score and I'm going to spend the next year doing research and step 3.

The issue is, while rushing the exam and applying to the match can provide you with short-term relief, it will cause significant long-term regret if the score was lower than your true potential.

Good luck my friend

thanks for the advice. i am definitely taking at least 2 NBMEs before I take my test. But y are u postponing ur match till next year? I have been following ur progress and ur going to appear for ur exam soon right? If so you would get ur score by oct 2nd. If you dont have any red flags u should apply because most programs give out interview invitations in mid oct- nov. I personally think u have time especially if u are a gc holder or us citizen. Just my opinion though.

im more worried because if i take it in late sept scores come out on oct 16th at the earliest. I think im cutting it too close for comfort... just seeing if people would try to still apply or not.

Hey buddie,
You better focus in your step 2 ck and then think about thd aplication because at the end of the day, the test is basic and if rush and then failed or have a los score is wors because you cannot change that, beyond that...I hate to tell you this, but UWSA overestimate your actual score about 20 points. In order to be really sure, do a nbme to see the difference. I had everything ready to apply this year because I toke a UWAS and I score pretty good; what a surprise when I took an nbme yesterday.... 30 points below, that is a ridiculously big diference!, so my recomendation, make any desicion after taking an nbme whenever you feel confortable but regardless of the score, is better to know before go ahead and taking a test with a overestimated score, that would be fatal.
Hope this help!

avg was 61% but towards the end it was in the high 60s and low 70s. i always think its silly mistakes but at the end of the day i got them wrong right? I really think im higher than my score but we ll see. Ill figure out a game plan then go from there.

I respectfully disagree with you there. If you look up all the exam experiences posted, and the thread comparing NBME, UWSA and UW % to the individuals eventual scores, UWSA has been quite accurate (+/- 7-10) for 95% of the people. The 20 point discrepancy you mention between UWSA and your eventual score only exists for step 1.
