well on the experience side: it was nerve wracking...i found the overall exam to be really tough...I could figure out what they were talking about...but the answer i was usually looking for was not in the options unlike uworld ...the abstract questions were delirious....did get a lot pf psych...really nervous about the outcome.

and time management was also a big deal ...the question length was way longer than uworld and had to figure out what was fluff from the important clues.

I just don't understand how they grade these, because the test is unpredictable. And what i have seen is that nbmes for step 2 ck is no help in predicting your real score unlike step 1. I had to fly by the last 3- 4 question on each block. I felt my whole exam was experimental. I really feel i fail! I just hope i'm just one of those that have the feeling but end up differently

Well i feel the same way man...though people do get scores closer to the nbme forms they take , that's what i have seen reading through the posts in the forums...may not be exact but close.

My permit link is gone!!!!
Took my exam on Sept 14th,

Exam experience, WEIRD, completely different than Step 1 for sure.
Like you said before, I kind of knew what they were talking about...but the answer i was usually looking for was not in the options, so put the one that i thought it was the most appropiated.

The time was a KILLER!!! I had to go very fast the last 3- 4 question on each block but one.
I had the same impressions as you guys, questions longer, than UW, specially Psychiatry Q. The abstract n drug adds, definitely different and harder than UW (probably bcs i left them for last, and i was running out of time).

I really dont know what to expect! i think it is very unpredictable, and very very nervous about the results!

I did DIT, MTB and Uworld. i believe it was not enough for this test. It maybe covered 60% max, but how i said before i think this is the new trend. It seem most were passin step 2 ck with high grade so they had to make it tougher. I really felt it was harder n more challenging than Step 1.

I gave my exam on sept 24th. My permit has disappeared though. Is it valid still because my eligibility period ended on sept 30th? Or do I have to wait another long week?

I'm really sorry about your result rzmpc. Take a couple of days to clear your mind and approach this exam again. I would recommend to focus on your weaknesses from your score report. If you didn't do kaplan qbank, I would highly recommend it. I started off reading and watching KLN and then did kaplan qbank. I annotated in detail from kaplan qbank into MTB 2/3. Then I did uworld and again annotated in detail into MTB 2/3. Yes, MTB seems insufficient but with my annotations the book turned into overkill. I wish you the best.

rmpz, i agree with Ifss, you can do kaplan Q, i have heard that it makes you get used to super long question stems ( my biggest problem during the exam was the time)

The most important tool to me, was UW. I read all explanation and wrote down everything i didnt know. You get so much info from it.

I didnt do as well as expected in psychiatry (was my best subject on UW), and i think MTB3 could have help me a lot in the exam. I was reading it the other day and i think is very good material.

I didnt do no videos or lectures, so i cant comment on that.

Default My CK experience..

Well, guys, thank God i dint fail this exam. Cos at the beginning of my 4th block i started to panic. the 3 blocks i had just done before that were very very long and hard. it was a mental torture. I had to spend 3 mins , eyes closed and doing controlled breathing exercise to calm myself down. Meanwhile the clock was counting away cos i had already started the 4th block.
At the end of the exam....i thought i was gonna fail. I had so many Long terrible Psych questions about 15 or more stupid 3 page Drug ad question.

Preparation
Kaplan all the way. read it through and through cos i only had 3 months to prep and was working full time as a surgical resident.

UWORLD ; did only 35 blocks in total, random timed mode. 72% average

UWSA 247,

Took the exam on Sept 16.
Result 236

Not sure if i should be happy i didnt fail or if i should be depressed i didnt hit my 250 target...but on the whole i am really really grateful to God i dont have to take this exam again.

really sorry about your exam outcome. But i think the most important thing to ask yourself is this , could you have done any better by way of preparation?
The answer to this lies in your pre-exam stats; ur UWSA score, or UWORLD block score average, NBME score etc. What were they? where they good enough? if they were, then i dont think changing study resources is the answer here.....the exam was VERY hard, we all know that. May be you freaked out...and lost control for instance. Then in that case it is your self-calming skill you should work on, not getting a new study material.

Cos boy, my exam was bloody hard and i tot i was gonna fail. I freaked out mentally and physically during my 4th block,... thats how bad it was. I had to take out time to calm myself. But at the end of the exam I asked myself if i could have prepared any better....and the answer was no...cos if i wasnt ready i wont have scored that good in the UWSA( 247) and in the UWORLD blocks(72 % average). My final exam score was 236 and i'm very sure it could have been worse if i hadnt taken control of my nerve.

So think about it... and of course we will be here to give you the support you need.
Cheers.
