Help 16 days before exam

Hello,

I really need an advice from those who took the exam...
In my prep I read kaplan & MTB once. I did NMBE 4 then and got 208. I finished UW after that and the marked Qs and did NBME 6 with a score of 223. My exam is in 17 days and my goal is 250+, pleeaaaaaaaaase tell me how I can pump up my score????
My elgibility period ends in 6 weeks, should I postpone my exam or even the block???

UW 73% once along with the marked questions...started my second UW run and I am getting low 90s high 80s

Well I kinda couldnt figure out...some of my mistaked were cause I didnt focus sometimes in some questions, others were simply because NMBE 6 had some f***ed up questions which I still dont know the answer to

My low performance is in Principles of management, normal growth and development, MSK & skin & connective tissue

MTB is quite weak in musculoskeletal. i have tried reading from kaplan and FA for that but I dont seem to see any imporvement. And I have no idea how someone can imporve his principles of management

Guys I m in the same exact boat. Stuck with a 220 in NBME 6. Very worried coz I didn't apply this yr just for the sake of getting good score in CK. But now I am finding it difficult. Also , my eligibility is lapsing this december...need to take it before that. Please let's gather here and share our problems...

Please guys ..need the correct answer to this weird question

An asymptomatic 47-year-old man comes for a preemployment examination. He has never been hospitalized. He is a computer programmer, and he plays handball once weekly. His maternal grandmother had type 2 diabetes mellitus, and a paternal uncle had heart disease. The patient's blood pressure is 126/80 mm Hg. Examination shows no abnormalities. His total serum cholesterol level is 225 mg/dL. Which of the following is the most appropriate next step in management?

A) Step 2 American Heart Association cardiac diet
B) Serum lipid studies while fasting
C) Exercise stress test
D) Oral cholestyramine and niacin therapy
E) Oral pravastatin therapy at bedtime

A lipid profile is recommended at age 35 for males and at age 45 for females. So I guess B?

let us know how you do on these two Drsrb, what was your cumulative UW score. Personally, I feel ready, but the stories I hear about the question length on the real exam scares the living sh*t out of me

Here is how I'm doing so far
Kaplan qbank 65%

NBME 4 225 (prior to taking UW)

UW 76% with 8% remaining

In general and according to posts I see in this forum, UWSA is the most accurate predictor of your performance on the real thing. NBME 4 tends to underpredict your score

Default My exam tomorrow

I believe that there always will be some silly mistakes. Thats the part of our behavior I presume. We all have some similar question in mind and then we tend to overlook the difference in that particular question happily and confidently only to find it a "Silly Mistake" later on. I have my exam tomorrow. My preparation is hardly anything compared to what I did for step 1 but still am gonna finish with it. Need your wishes you guys! And all the best to you all too

Good luck im sure uwsa will be your most accurate predictor.
Had same problem with nbme13 for step1 changed 7 answers from correct to incorrect. Didnt improve my second nbme the way you did but, did same went with my gut and didnt doubt myself much, and improved with 14 points in 15 days.

So do you recommend me to do nbmes in same order? Nbme4 after first round of uworld, then revision and soon nbme6
lol thanks
yea that sounds about right..
u can also use other nbme (2 or 3) if u want to keep nbme 4 for later!!

i meant if u wanted to do more nbme's..u can keep 4 for later...n do 2 or 3 before hand.
[on the nbme voting page..nbme 4 has d maximum votes so thats y i was saying]

psonis..
see what u can do now is see what kind of qs ur missing..
what topics u got a low score on nbme!!
go back to basics if you think ur missing out any important concept there..
n focus on uworld..its got all the info u need!!
do as many qs as u can...nothing can trump that!!!

It was lengthy but gradually as you gain momentum it doesn't pose that much of a problem. Those drug ads and study questions took time but over all I finished my exam well before time. I had my break time unused and half an hour more! So it is doable!

@ diagnostic, congratulations! One quick question; does uw cover the concept s that were tested. Did the drug ads and abstracts look anything like those in UW? Thanks!

see difficulty was ok on all nbme's...there are always gonna be some tricky ones..
on uwsa some qs were very vague...as in confusing between two options..
but it was doable..the key is to read d q properly..even if u can make out the answer in the first half of q dont straight away jump to answering..i missed 4-5 qs on uwsa because of that..
i had around 83-84 percent correct..

Do kaplan qbank only if u have revised uworld. Its beneficial but not necessary.

I did like 500 questions. Its certainly not a waste of time. If u r done witn uworld thoroughly doing kaplan is a good choice. Certainly better than reading any book! Good luck.
