Question How bad is this?

I just got my step 2 score and it's unfortunately slightly lower than what I was hoping for (I was hoping for 230+). I got 228. :/
I still haven't proceeded to step 1 and I'm an old graduate (2008) but I've finished a residency at home so I haven't been out of practice. Do you think I have any chance of getting interviews if I try to overcome it with a higher step 1 score? I only had 3 months to study for step 2, during which I was working but I'll be able to set aside much more time for step 1.

So opinions; proceed or save my money and effort?

step 1 is anyday more important an exam for USMLE. So, if you score like a 250..you're definitely matched. Not to forget, top it off with some observerships and research and Step 3. Keep in mind to have a valid justification for your YOG. Good luck!

Well, the only qbank I used was UW (75% first time through and reviewed wrong and marked questions afterwards) and although I have nothing to compare it to, I thought it was decent enough.
The exam felt more difficult, however. I especially had difficulty with the biostatistics q's (although tbh, I had trouble with it while studying it) but there was an average of 1-2/ block.
I missed 2 q's in the first block when I spent too long staring at a particular questions or two, so after that whenever I had an initial "what the hell is this?" response after reading a question or whenever I encountered a drug ad, I marked them and left them to the end of the block and that helped me avoid missing any more q's.
I did 4 blocks in a row then one 15 min break for a cup of coffee and then 2 and 2 with a 10 min break in between.
Walked out of the exam feeling exhausted and like I had probably failed, but I got the impression that it's a common feeling.
Hope that helps.

@ResidencyHopeful
Hi..First of all..Congrats. I got my score too, 228. And yes, i was hoping for a better score. but to tell u the truth, i'm really very happy that i passed, considering the recent increase in the difficulty level and increase in the minimum passing score. After my exam i was confused n couldn't tell how it was. So these 3 weeks were torture for me, and finally i'm relieved.
I know what u r feeling though..It would have been great to get 240+, and that's what i was hoping for when i was about to start my exam. I worked really hard for this exam, but unfortunately it was difficult. Anyway, my point is, at least i'm still in the game n so are you. You can work hard for step 1, get some US clinical experience and work to make your CV strong. There is so much you can do. Look at the big picture!
All the best!

Thanks residencyhopful! You should proceed and take step1 once you score high in it this will boost your credentials.
I am 2004 graduate mom, and i took the ck 10 days ago, I have that awful feeling i will not pass but i am so excited to continue if i just see 'passed' next Wednesday.

@mat17 ..thx! that was really encouraging . It could have been worse, I suppose.
@Imgimg...np..Everyone I talked to came out from the exam feeling bewildered and like they definitely won't pass, so I think that's a pretty common reaction to the exam. You'll hopefully pass with flying colors
