Default Starting CK Preparation.. Need Expert Advices

Hello everyone..

I am starting my prep for CK. Got done with Step 1 and got result about 1 month back and I have studied just for one week on and off due to some personal reasons, but now am planning to start full fledge.

Can anyone please help me with how to go about, what books to study, and how to plan everything? I am new to CK so have no idea on how to get a proper solid start now.

I have Kaplan CK Notes, DVD lectures (2008 edition I think) and MTB 2 & 3.

I have not totally forgotten what I studied in Step 1 (scored around 220s). Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you

So is it not necessary to do lecture videos??

Should I do the IM ones by Conrad??

How about other subjects videos?? Is it worth doing them??

I started my prep a couple of days ago. My plan is something like this:

I thought i would do kaplan videos for all the subjects on 2X speed (of course slowing down where I need to) and doing Kaplan notes for IM. Then MTB2 and MTB3. And then UW etc.

I might do kaplan notes for OBG but otherwise I'm skipping kaplan notes for all the other subjects. That's what I've heard from other people.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Kaplan lectures are good for IM (only the ones with Conrad fischer) and OB-GYN..The rest are not as good..MTB is more of a revision material..Good luck!!

As y demand experts chck ck experiences what did people use how they scored. And decide.
My personal advice. Do kaplan for obgyn, others can be left alone. Start uworld as soon as u can in your study.+ make mtb as your step1 first aid book. Also if i were starting now i would read first aid for ck at least ones. It is not well appreciated i guss because of existence of MTb2 which is great book, althoug it need MTB 3 for other subjects to be must done also.

Focud on doing uworld and take three months subscription believe me y will extend it anyway.
And y will want it to have before last days of your exam.

Good luck

Kaplan videos are not great for surgery and peds..You still need to do the notes..KLN notes+MTB+UWORLD..That's all you need for step 2..I dont think there's anything out there better than these.

what i felt after goin through IM in kaplan LN and MTB2 is
"there is nothing extra in MTB compared to kaplan LN except a few subtopics here n there.... its just that MTB shows you the way to approach a disease for step 2 ck... it shows you which points among the robust kaplan LN material should b highlighted while studying... it is also most consolidated version of kaplan LN in some way but without necessary explainations i guess..."

Yes, there's nothing extra in MTBs compared to KLN..That's bcz MTBs focus on the high yield imp facts...You can do KLN as many times as you want, but will you retain all of it? That's when MTB comes into play..It highlights all the imp points..If you can retain all of KLN notes, then MTB is not good enough
