Default MTB? complete ****

Hello,

So I will be taking my exam 1.5 months from now, just started with UW.

I have to say that MTB 2 + 3 is complete ****, I don't know what was this guy thinking when he wrote it, I don't know what logic brought him to put topics either on one book the other or neither of them. "what a piece of work is a man" hamlet asked, what a piece of work is Conrad Fischer I say?

I am seriously thinking about just reading FA for step 1 and adding MTB 2 ck for the rest.
I am not reading KLN , instead im watching Kaplan videos.
The rule of MTB 2 for IM and MTB 3 for the rest is wrong in so many ways. just check Pediatrics for example, MTB 2 is much better than 3 in many topics there. So goes for emergency, radiology ophthalmology etc.

I honestly think that if I didn't have a strong understand of step 1 this book would lead to a complete failure.

share your thoughts.

Here's what I am doing.

Internal Medicine:
Master the boards internal medicine, which is a complete set.
MTB 2 CK

Everything else:
KLN
MTB 2 CK
MTB 3

Kaplan videos - High yield which goes over MTB 2 CK.
And the most important tool of all is UW.

Not doing KLN for internal medicine. It's totally wasted.

No, it's similar to what everyone uses. The only difference is that I am using MTB internal medicine instead of KLN.

Next is MTB 2 CK the whole book.
MTB 3 excluding internal medicine
KLN - surgery, peds, and ob/gyn

It is a complete set 440 pages by Conrad Fisher. Read this first. Then go to MTB 2 CK, and you will see that 1 or more topics in MTB 2 CK internal medicine is missing; not a lot, some.

Don't worry about the amount of time to read because these books are fast reading. Reading for first time is not going to help the majority of us. So just like FA for Step 1, you have to read multiple times.

Also, being passive isn't going to help you either. We all need to be active. You can use flash cards as a game playing to test/quiz yourself to see how much you have learned thus far; for fun, not to hurt your brain cells.

Anyways, these are just my rough studying plans. The only thing that I am positive about and doing right now is MTB internal Medicine plus MTB 2CK internal medicine PLUS UW.

Trust me, KLN internal medicine is dry, wasted, useless, and barely makes you understanding.
