Default Nbme 4 kicked my ass

I need to rant. I've been studying non stop for the CK for awhile now, finished Uworld with an average of 63%, finished MTB, finished the Kaplan notes except Peds and had my exam scheduled in 2 weeks. I just took my first NBME (form 4 ) and got a 310/198. I am in total shock. My goal going into this was to score atleast 5 points more than my STEP 1 and my STEP 1 was a 230. 4 hours after taking this exam I am just now starting to accept the fact that I might have to postpone. For personal reasons postponing this exam was NEVER an option...now I don't know. Has anyone had a similar experience and scaled through? Or is the option staring me in the face right now the only I really have?

personally my advice is to postpone ur exam, look at your weak areas, focus them and improve them, as this is a one chance exam only, and you dont want to repent after hurrying. if u r an IMG, with no GC r passport, and looking for a good speciality like IM, a good score is a very plus point.
my step 1 score was 242, and i am aiming above it in step 2 CK, and i will postpone my exam if i could nt go to my desired score.

Did you take the Uworld Self assesment? I heard it's more predictive for step 2 CK than the NBMEs (opossite of Step 1)

Default Update

So I've been bothered for the past two days now, I couldn't shake the thought that I didn't give it my best with nbme 4. I took nbme 6 today, 500/237 which is way more than I expected after the last one. But I felt better after every block with this one and managed my time better, maybe I panicked with the first because it was my first nbme? I don't know. But I'm going back to my previous plan, and then UWSA one week before the real thing. That'll be the ultimate decider for me.

I totally understand the feeling ..i took the NBME 4 one week ago and score 221 ....i really need a better score in this one cause my step 1 was in the 220s and that for an IMG is not safe . I still want to take it by the en of this month..
Good luck for you!

Kamidi honestly NBME 4 is a blur at this point, but I don't remember having to do too many calculations. Off the top of my head I would say I saw less than 10 stat questions and they were mainly bias and prevalence etc. not one single abstract

Just as an update for anyone reading this, UWSA today put me at 234, but my time management was once again horrible. Atleast I know what to work on this last week. I don't know what the moral of the story is, maybe 'calm down when taking any exam' or 'believe in yourself'...but I'm just glad I took nbme 6 and didn't trust nbme 4. My exam is in a week so I'll be focusing on my weaknesses. Peace
