Default bad step 2 ck experience

so i took the Ck today and I was amazed at the kind of questions that NBME has come up with. my head was literally spinning trying to figure out the answers. Like a couple of people have mentioned before I think the CK is at par with the difficulty level of Step 1. I actually found Step 1 easier than Step 2. anyways whats done is done. now will have to wait for 3 horrible weeks to know how ive actually done. A word of advice to those going to take it soon >>> questions will be very long so read fast>>> and good luck

Hey aman_j! I kinda rely on your opinion. How do you feel about UWSA vs. real exam? I would appreciate any input!

To be honest the real exam is nothing like uswa although I cant say snything about the predictability. Just to give u an example. In the real exam the answer choices will be very confusing and a lot of questions will be like step one asking pathogenesis / mechanism . Uwsa is not the same difficulty level. . Even nbmes are simpler than the real exam

Yup, I expected that answer. Do you suggest that I should do NBME?

And, yes, question on UWSA are kinda vague, when you read them. But at the and it seems like they are not that hard. I definitely expect much harder thing on the exam.

Hey Aman J, I have one question, apart from nbmes and uwsa's, can u plz tell me about the books, i mean, was the exam covered from MTB 2 and mtb 3?? everyone reads kaplan in the beginning but then stick to mtb's in the end.. but i really wanna know what was the difficulty level exactly? or was it difficult just because of the options in the questions...??

Those are obviously great scores. Maybe you shouldn't worry after all. If the exam is tough, it's tough for all and you shall be scored accordingly. Good luck!

Btw you didn't take UWSA? If you did what was your score?

What I feel is that ck actually test ur clerkship knowledge because I got questions that were practicle and had nothing to do with theory. In all Kaplan LN are very important to build the basics and then use MTB's but know that you will get questions that you will not come across in either so i cant say that they will be enough. Also go through cdc websites for PEP for various disease and go through USPTF websites.... Keep up to date with current practise guidelines cause they do test you on that

Just to cite an eg. For tetanus PEP nowdays there are only 2 categories , initially there were 3 so you can go thru cdc cause trust me nbme does ask you these changes and options from old and new guidlines will be there

Preventive medicine is definitely one of my "favorite" subjects.
Anyway, it's on tomorrow's schedule, so I'll try to check guidilenes on CDC. I already checked USPSTF site, so minus that
Thanks aman_j for being sooooo kind!

I did like the uwsa but I would say its 2 levels lower than the real exam ..... The questions on real exam require you to be very careful when choosing the answer and contrary to popular belief they will be tricky so just a heads up concentrate well

Similar but not the same level
. I think they updated the question pool so there might be new questions there that might not be similar to the nbme 4/6

Thank you for your kind reply!
I mean are they lenghty and around similar topics than nbme?
Expecially the lenghty, nbme are a good mix between long q and direct q. I was wondering if real exam has longer q?

On real exam increased number if lengthy questions and there will be a good mix of topics .... Don't remember the topics but there were quite a few new concepts that were asked
