Unhappy Disturbing Uworld scores

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before. And the answer's usually the same...but i still don't get it. How is it that I have such weird fluctuating uworld scores?! 1 test its 75+, and immediately the next one a shameful 55! and every other test is either a 60s or 70s or 50s. My cumulative graph is all over the place. and I'm hell confused now. I dont get where I'm going wrong here. Whether its not enough reading from books, or comprehension...idk. My right answers are never guesses. I know them for sure. But the wrong ones are all educated guesses gone horribly wrong. I know uworld is just a learning tool, and we arent supposed to fret over the scores. But this odd curve ball of mine has got me really worried! I need help please!

I think most of the people experience this fluctuation in the scores with UW. myself and 2 of my friends who are studying to the exam get the same experience.
You didn't write how far are you in your studies and how much of the bank you got left. Overall look at the cumulative average and that should guide you - you can see if your are getting better or worse, usually in the middle there is a drop but it gets compensated as you go on.

I can share my personal experience that my highest score on UW was 86% and lowest was 64%.
My first block on UW was 84% and second was 66%. I feel your agony as I felt mine as well, but I guess you just bite it and keep going, the last blocks usually get better.

If you notice questions that above 50-60% the people got right you should star them as those one's you should have gotten right as well. When you finish with the bank try to make an average of the last 10 blocks or so of the bank - and than try to correlate it to the actual exam. The average that you are seeing of other people in each block is completely distorted as many people unlike in step 1 count on it as only bank and do more than once.

And remember,"under every grief and pine runs a joy with silken twine" .

Thanks so much! That is so helpful. I will do as you say. I am about halfway thru uworld. 52% unused. Before the last 2 blocks, about 6-8 blocks straight i scored in 70s. But before and after that point, came this huge offset difference. my highest was one 83% on a block that everyone scored 60 something. so i know what you mean about the score comparison not being apt considering everyone solves this qbank twice. Thats why i was only looking at my own disturbing graph and trying to make sense of it. But lets consider I am lagging behind and not improving scores, what do you suggest i should do to change that? How should I work on it? More reading or do I just keep solving more questions randomly and hope they get better?

oh and I forgot to add....my cumulative average is 66%. I have started on uworld after one reading of mtbs alongside kln. Maybe too many sources are getting me confused...i'm not sure why I keep second guessing myself on the qbank and end up getting a question wrong cuz i was overthinking it. I have to figure out something soon...already have my exam scheduled for the end of next month.

66% is a good score. I wouldn't worry. I'm using KLN as my main text and using MTB 2+3 as supplementary material. Since I haven't started UW yet, can you tell me for what subjects Kaplan is helping you a lot in UW?

Idk I think i'll give it another 10 blocks or so to figure out whats really going on there.
I find retention from kaplan material hard...end up recalling more mtbs during questions cuz nearly every question needs you to know the order of management which is emphasized in mtbs. But there were many diseases that were skipped altogether in mtbs, esp infections and pulm, endo, thats given in kln. and i find obg from kln very effective.
But you might want to make mtbs your main source, and just keep adding the missing stuff from kaplan there. cuz it will just be more concise for review. i think.
