Listening Advice on how to move on

Hello USMLE forumists!

It's been a while since I posted, mostly because of the intensity of my step 2 CK preparation. I hope that everything is perfect with your studies and that your morale is 1000% !!
As some of you may remember, I took step 1 on mid-November (score:243) and I have been studying for step 2 since December 1st (3months). I have read everything from Kaplan lecture notes (I haven't done Psychiatry due to the fact that most are repeated from step 1) and have watched most videos from Fischer.
I also have 38% Qs left from UW in which I have a cumulative 74% (with my best on IM being on the 91st percentile, and my worst on Psychiatry (60th percentile). Today, I took the official NBME form 4 and I scored a 251 prediction.
I am planning on taking the exam as soon as possible (I haven't closed a date yet because I wanted first to do an NBME to see where I stand).

What do you think people? How should I proceed? I know I should be grateful for having a decent score, but I believe that you guys are very intuitive and give good advice on the spot...

God bless you all!

Arrow Go do it now

Keep doing questions and schedule a date as soon as possible. Don't let the data slips from your brain, you have to take the exam as soon as you can.

I applied for step 2 Mar-Apr-May! Thank you Sabio! Another question: Do you know how much time until they approve my application? I already have a valid form 186 (given while applying for step1). Should I send them anything else, or should they just process my online step 2ck application?

You should get your scheduling permit within 2-3 weeks.

Great predictions tkourkou! I think you should just complete UW, take another NBME, and take the exam. I'll do Kaplan for 1 mo. after UW, though.

I'm almost done with UW and my cumulative is 70%, but I have 100 wrong choices that were changed from correct ones! - That's around 15% of my incorrect answers. I wonder how many such answers do you have? I think there's more tendency in Step 2 CK questions to change answers than in Step 1. What do you think?

Hello Haisook! Great to hear from you! I think that your cumulative score is awesome! The reason why you have so many correct-to-incorrect answers is probably your tendency to underestimate yourself. If I were you, I would change my answer only if I had strong evidence in mind.

Now, in my case I have more incorrect-to-correct (91) than correct-to-incorrect (43) which means that I may be a little bit careless when answering thats why I tend to change an answer if I have some supporting evidence to do so. However, I do not put much thought on it, and I do it unconsciously.

Also, in my case, I find that step 2 makes me feel that the score is unpredictable. I find myself numerous times expecting a bad score (such as in NBME and UW) while in step 1 I knew I did well. Before I see the 251 prediction I was like OMG OMG I screwed up, I am not ready! lol

Anyway, Haisook I would advise you to do an NBME, and don't fool around on other Qbanks unless you aim too high. I believe that an NBME will give you the best answer on how to proceed...

Cheers, and I hope you study hard and feel prepared!

I agree with you about that, but the problem is that I'm stuck in an eligibility period that starts in April, so I have one more full month for prep. Can't take the exam any earlier. So I thought Kaplan qbank would be a good investment.
