Default Step 2 Takers 17th of April 2014

Hey guys. I took my test yesterday and it was super hard. I mean i did uworld twice, the second time around, i got 93% of the questions right. But nothing could have prepared me for what i saw in the exam. I thought most of the questions are going to be from Internal medicine. But no, most of the questions were from GYNOBS, Pediatrics and Psych. And so many old people my God i started to feel old my self towards the end. There were no easy picking answers. No buzzword answers. The questions were just phrased awfully, and they were so long you couldn't risk reading them twice. This is coming from a guy who does a uworld block in under 40 minutes. UWSA I got 260. The free 150 questions 90+ on all blocks. As for the test I am not so sure. I made the stupidest of mistakes due to lack of time. I used to make like 10-14 in each block. I thought i'd go back to them once i was done with the block but well you never get the chance to double back on ur marked questions. I just hope and pray i got atleast as much as i got on Step 1 cuz if i don't it'll be such a shame. Pray for me guys and do share your experience if you took the test on the 17th of April. Who knows we might have taken the same test.

Hey congrats on your exam. Time management will be my night mare as I was having difficulty with UW also. What do you think is the best strategy for time management. Don't feel so bad; as I know that is a clear sign of 260 . I was worried and thought I failed on my step1 but end up in 260. I am a bit nervous step 2 CK.

Tell us about psychiatry; did u look at DSM 5; What was more difficult about it?

Also drug add and abstract questions; how many did u get? What do you think is the best strategy to tackle such questions in addition to doing them at the end? Thanks

My total prep time was 3 months. The drug ad questions weren't too difficult. I got 2 drugs ads. Each of them had 2 questions. I got one question wrong only to realize it after I was done with the block. The drug ads are easy, perhaps easier than the ones on UWorld. What's difficult is the interpretation of data from RCTs and Cohort studies. Each of them had three questions each and it takes alot of time to look for the right thing and then interpret it. They were way more difficult than I had anticipated. The ones in UWorld are way to easy. Over all the biostat questions that I got weren't easy. They had asked 2 questions on NNT but the ARR wasn't given and you had to come up with an ARR with the limited data that was given which was obscure at best. I got questions on the West Nile virus lol, But it was a 2 stem question so atleast i got the precautions question right. There was one question regarding giggling teenagers with no drugs on tox screen and urine tox screen. the answer was morning glory seeds. I got it wrong never heard of children munching on morning glory seeds. The Paeds questions were just awful. There were like a gazillion questions on intestinal obstruction. But they'd never tell you what the imaging findings were. Just stupid physical findings and ask you to come up with a diagnosis. You'll always end up having to choose b/w intussception or volvulus. Not even hint as in the baby was given a vaccine-Intussception or the stool was red currant jelly in color and consistency. Like i said no buzzwords. There were numerous weird questions. Am just hoping they were the experimental ones lol. There was one on developmental miles stones with a child who can climb stairs but can't come down. I think i got that one wrong cuz i chose delayed gross motor with everything else normal. Ah well I don't wanna think about it anymore. I have my CS coming up on the 28th of May. So screw it. There is nothing I can do it about it now. I gave it my best, the rest is in God's hands.

My UWSA score was 254, UW score was 76%. I came out from the exam thinking that I've failed, but I ended up scoring 245. I was sooo happy back then but now I'm kinda disappointed I didn't score >250
