What are the rules we follow to know when to admit psychiatric patient into the hospital?

suicidal, homoicidal ideation, grave disability, gross disorganization, agitated,threatening behavior or severe Sx of substance intoxication or withdrawal

I just follow the general rule of " would i take this guy to my house?"

XD


But yeah what the above poster said is also useful lol.


On a side note, if a patient REFUSES admission but you have even the slightest tought that he might be suicidal/homicidal/dangerous, ADMIT HIM AGAINST HIS WILL


Also impaired functioning. Can this guy live alone? thats another useful question. It goes in hand with what that guy said too
