Default How to deal with 50:50 questions in step 2 ck?

Do learning stuff well and mastering all the concepts of uw, MTB and Kaplan is enough to deal with such questions? Is there a clue in the vignettes which helps to choose one answer over the other? And is uw enough for ck? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Well i HAVENT taken the CK yet, but i have it next wednesday.

What i will do if im really close between two options, i would first RE SCAN the entire question (if length , reading speed and TIME, because time management is very important) to search for a hint or something i might have missed during my first read.

If the question is lengthy i would just mark it and read it after im done with the others. Time is very important.

The second would be asking WHAT IS MOST COMMON. "This is a type 2 diabetic, does he have DKA or Hyperosmolar coma?, the presentation is very similar but HKC is WAY more common in type 2 diabetics" . Knowing that i would analyze the stem again and check if there's anything DISPROVING that hypothesis. Last but not least, if all fails...

Third thing i would do if i COULDN'T figure out any hints or clues in the stem, i would ask my self, what are they trying to teach me? what would be the purpose of this question?. I have a very keen eye for that. Understanding the hidden meaning behind a question can be a powerful tool, not that much in the exam but definitely in the Qbanks, where every question has a purpose behind it. This will help you raise your confindence and do better on tests.

Now is uWORLD enough?, that depends. Did you ace your S1? did you take it recently? if yes to both then sure, uWorld is going to prepare you much better than anything could.

Now if you didnt do that well, if you took the S1 a long time ago or havent studied for it yet, if you want to aim for a higher score ... then i would suggest adding MTB or FA to your studies as a backup plan.

IMHO and the few of my friends that aced the exam, THEY ARE NOT ESSENTIAL BUT THEY CAN HELP YOU JUST A BIT. I wouldn't waste much time on books, personally.

Most important advice, if you have the time, is to do a second qbank like Kaplan. This will help you much more than a book every could, IMHO.

From reading the posts of previous ACERs here, dominating uWorld content is the key to a sure pass and possible Ace score

Good luck.
