Unhappy Step 2 CK or Step 1 first ??

Hello there ! Iam an IMG from Pakistan and currently giving my final year MBBS examinations. I recently cleared the Step 2 CS exam and I am wondering whether I should attempt step 2 CK first or prepare for step 1.

Here are my doubts for both options:

The subjects in my exams are same as the CK course; so if I approach CK next- say within next 3.5 months, all surg/med/gyn/psych/peads they are all fresh in my head right now! So I should go for CK yeah?

Some people telling me to attempt step 1 first as there is overlap of concepts between the two and from what I can assume, the overlap is of mostly pathology and pharmacology? Is that correct? If yes then I am good at both those two subjects- this further supports my CK first plans.

But I am seriously confused. If there is anyone interested in helping me clear my mind for this I would be very much grateful.

Thank you !

Definitely, Step 1 first. There are many reasons for it.

-Its not only about the topics overlap. You get to know the mechanisms behind the diseases, which is heavily tested now and then in CK.

-It helps you with differential diagnosis, and knowing the various treatment modalities. You cannot master in CK if you don't know how to differentiate one disease from the other.

-Step 1 is kind of a training ground, for a more harsh CK. Its actually an easier exam compared to CK. So, the first time you take Step1, it will help you to get in the exam phase, and your first experience will be great.

-CK asks so many step1 style questions, which could be like 5-10 points in the entire exam. That is a lot for CK, and can affect your performance heavily!

I can say this from my personal experience. Step 1 first, always!
