In terms of controllable risk factor for stroke, which one has the largest effect?

1) stop smoking
2) weight reduction
3) BP control
4) Diabetes control
5) Hyperlipidaemia control

I would go for BP control

According to the american heart association High blood pressure is the leading cause of stroke and the most important controllable risk factor for stroke. Many people believe the effective treatment of high blood pressure is a key reason for the accelerated decline in the death rates for stroke.

It's also important to note that smoking cessation does not significantly affect blood pressure. I have seen more than one question asking for what would have the greatest impact in terms of lowering BP and the answer is usually diet and/or weight loss (not smoking cessation).
