Default My step 2 CK Experience, April 30th 2014

HI, i'm extremely tired after spending my day on the beach . I decided to take a trip there to wait for my results lol.

***skip this if you want my prep****

Okay so i took step 1 around may/june 2013 and i Scored a 248. I thought it was a decent score and then studied for Step 2 CS which i also passed, first attempt. I got kinda depressed after taking CS because i SWORE i had failed the exam and i just stopped studying altogether. I FINALLY was able to regain my will in february 2014 and started prepping for CK.

*****

Preparation :
I spent one month (or slightly less) reading and rereading MTB2. I planned to use it like FA for Step 1 but decided that it just wouldnt work . It's not a bad book but its definitely not as helpful as FA was for the S1. So after that month i ditched it the book and didnt pick it up right until the end.

Next step i did 1 month of Kaplan Qbank which i found EXHAUSTING. The questions are long, hard and i don't think i learned that much, other than getting *ready* for UWORLD, because of my long break.. After that i started UWORLD .

I did UWORLD only once, during 3 months, random, timed ,etc. At first i was really lazy and couldn't do more than 1 block a day. I'm a very slow reader and i just didn't have the motivation in me. The final 3 weeks though i gained a lot more energy (because of the pressure that UWORLD was running out and i couldn't afford an extension) and i was able to complete it.

Final 2 weeks of PREP : I reread MTB2 real fast , like in 3-5 days. I re-read all my UWORLD notes (and screenshots of tough Q's, which i took using Gadwin Screenshot or something like that) which took me like a week and i did the 150Q's and corrected them. The day before my exam i skimmed through MTB3 for some of my worst topics and i think it helped me!. So if you have the time, definitely do MTB3, although don't expect more than a 2-10pts gain, because of it.

Assessments :
UWORLD Random, timed, first time : 75%
NBME4: 250, took it when i had 50% complete of Uworld
NBME6: 260, took it when i had 75% complete of Uworld
UWSA1: 261, took it when i had 100% complete of Uworld
Free150Q's : 89%, the week before my test
CK Score: 264

So that's it folks. My advice, read mtb2 (and if you have the time mtb3, at least your weak subjects) and do UWORLD at least once. Take the 150Qs and learn from the structure and the way questions are asked, i found it to be very similar to the real thing.

The abstracts are impossible, don't know how to prepare for that ****. The ads just require reading comprehension, don't know how you can learn this lol

My Before/AFter exam experience, if you want to read it: My exam is tomorrow.

Good luck to you all and thanks for those that gave me their support

congratulation for the amazing score ,
So you didn't use the Kaplan video or note at all ?
Is it all about MTB or you have clinical experience beside that ?

No Kaplan Notes, no videos. Frankly i didn't even know they existed.

I have plenty clinical experience since I'm a medical graduate in a 3rd world country. I don't think it helped me as much as you think it might have though.

MTB for me was a complement, the real study were the qbanks, SPECIALLY uworld. To ace the exam you must learn uworld really well.

I also think i got lucky and got an easy test. I didn't want to say it out loud cause i was afraid i would jinx it but my test was really really easy, except for the abstracts.
