So true my friend

Feel like such an idiot after reviewing the question which I knew

Sucks man because it feels like I'm working harder then the ppl who just wake up and score 250+ on all their practice exams. One friend of mine is always partying, I study twice as much as him yet he's scoring 30 points higher then me!!!!

I feel like MTB is very vague in outlining the information to us. I found this free website that has helped me bump up my scores on UW by over 20 points after watching just a few videos. You can check it out as he puts everything into perspective in a very concise manner IMHO.

www.onlinemeded.org

All the best. I will take an NBME soon and see if this is really paying off else I am screwed!!!!!

Hey cardiovasculaire, i found that website too on facebook but i have a question though,im just starting my prep for CK so do you think i should substitute these videos for the kaplan videos or should it be more of an additive to the kaplan videos.
i think these will work like how DIT would work, short and concise videos for a quick review.
good luck on your NBME.

Honestly, I did not find the Kaplan Videos nor KLN helpful (which I spent many months wasting my time to read and watch). I think you should substitute these videos for the KLN videos and complete with MTB and mostly UW. I can only give you my experience so far but I am still to take my test and another NBME to confirm if this works. I think if I had found this videos 6 months ago, I would have probably taken and aced my test by now...I hope this helps.

oh okay, ill check the videos out in a little more detail then, but seriously you didnt think the kaplan read + videos made you understand certain concepts that helped you understand the uworld and MTB more easily or better?
i am not looking to finish this exam before august to send out my application for 2015 match, but i do want to finish it by November 2014(this year).
i understand man,im anxiously waiting to see if it helps you as well now so i can modify my plan accordingly, but good luck with your NBME and the rest of your prep, you are probably doing very well man.
do keep me posted,Thanks.

I did not use them. After struggling with the KLN I was fed up and decided to not go there too.

As for understanding concepts, UW does that very well - better than any resource I have looked at, but again, until I take my test I cannot say this is absolutely working...so fingers crossed!!!

Yeah, im not a fan of kaplan either...I did the online course which went thru MTB, and it was mostly a waste of time...just read straight from the book and Conrad didnt even cover all the topics...I saw that he has a medquest thing which is very good, i guess thats why he half assed the kaplan thing so he can get ppl to buy his medquest course which is ridiculously expensive

And yes, i had taken some time off of uworld but i recently got another subscription (day after my uwsa test) and i must saw that i should have bought it couple months earlier ( i did the bank after my step 1 in late 2012 up till mid 2013 but had some stuff i had to go through where i couldnt study)

Im picking up a lot of info now, been doing timed tutor and going over the topics I scored low in on my exam...hope for the best

Default Uworld

Keep reading and revising usmleworld. The more times you revise it the higher your score will be. Read the explanations and make sure you understand every single word.

I believe the secret of all these USMLE's exams is not the books, its just doing questions the more you do the more you become able to predict the aim of the question.
Theres four causes of failing a question:
1- a language barrier( I am not asking you to be fluent or eloquent as obama)
2- Understanding the big picture( try to ask yourself when solving a question what is he trying to test me on what subject with that you will narrow your focus)
3-lack of the info (reading and solidifying it with questions)
4- overthinking a question( it always happens to me for example I had a question about a homeless man that presented with hypoCa with low PTH rather than thinking of Malabsorption, I went so far that I concluded that the main cause of his HypoCa is HypoMg and since Mg is Cofactor for PTH it caused HypoPTH LOL great analysis but extremely rare in compare to Malabsorption due to Vit D def)

these in my opinion are the main causality of failing any question.
