Smile Passed CK on 2nd attempt

Hi everyone! I just passed CK about 2 weeks ago and I just wanna share my experience. I left Prometric feeling unsure, not just about the test, but about my future. That's how hard I felt it was. It was my 2nd attempt, by no means my score is as high as the usual passing scores I see in forums, it's 223 and I am very HAPPY with it My score in my first attempt was i think 172 or 174, i forgot about it, I had to move on, haha, but it is either of the two. I did Kaplan Online Course, but I just finished the IM and Psych videos as well as their Lecture Notes and was truly guilty because it was a lot of money to enroll. I also read Surgery Lecture Notes. After finishing the videos on the 2 subjects and reading the 3 Lecture Notes just 1 time, I started doing uworld. I saw a post in a forum wherein a guy did uworld by reading everything in it, all incorrect and correct answers and reading in the book the topics you answered incorrectly. Maybe for 2-3 weeks I did the "reading again in the book the ones I got wrong", but it took me so much time, but I think it really helped because I realized I was getting the same stuff wrong, so like what the guy in the forum said, by doing uworld that way, it will make you understand what you often get confused with and at the same time re-reading just the high yield. If I had 4 or more months to review, I would have done that with the uworld, but I didn't, so I just finished uworld and read EVERYTHING, as in EVERYTHING. I was doing 2 sets of 44 Qs per day, random and timed, 4-5 hours per set. I read all the explanations in every question and that helped me with my differentials. As for OB and Peds, I just studied them using uworld and read some topics in the lecture notes when I was doing "the reading the wrong answers in the book", but those were just a few topics since I just did that for 2-3 weeks, no more than 30 pages of the lecture notes of each. For Biostat/Epidem/Ethics, I just used uworld. After passing through ALL uworld once, which was 2 weeks before my exam, my average was about 57-60%, but not more than that, I just don't remember exactly. All I remember was feeling hesistant to take the test because the average uworld scores in forums were like way up high. I did Kaplan Simulated Test after uworld and got 68% and NBME 6 one week before and got 210. I was so scared to take the test. With faith in God, a lot of prayers, and surrendering everything to HIM, I got 223. A miracle and only because of His grace. Hope this helps. Never give up.

congrats,you've earned it.

i have one question though, how long did it take for you to go from the 174 to the 210(on NBME) / 223 (on the exam)....how many hrs a day did you study and for how many days/weeks/months?

good luck for everything ahead.

BTW, what books did you use to read more information of the questions you got wrong on uworld? Kaplan? MTB 2?

I took my first attempt at Ck August 2013, found out I didn't make it Sept. 25. I didn't study at all after that because i was thinking twice about continuing. Finally, I decided to take ck again and started reviewing January 2, 2014 and I took my exam 3rd week of April. So 3 1/2 months to jump from 172/174 to 223. i studied 8 hours per day, but became 8-10 on the last month. All I could do was 2 sets of uworld questions (44 each) per day on the last month or so because it took me 4-5 hours to review everything in each set. if i had time i would have continued re-reading my incorrect answers in the book, but I didn't.

Books I used was Kaplan Lecture Notes IM, Surge, and Psych.... For Peds and OB I mainly used uworld, but i think the Lecture Notes in OB is great, I just didn't have time . I'm not saying this is the best way to review for CK, but if by sharing I would help others, why not?

Message me so I can send you the link to the post about using uworld, which i followed...
