Question ethics question

If there is a terminal patient and he is in enormous pain. Now we give him opioids but the analgesic dose is causing him respiratory depression. What to do next. Give him the analgesic dose without caring about respiration or give analgesic dose plus a centrally acting stimulant

u have to control pain even if the dose required is causing respiratory depression

What's the harm in adding a stimulant if we have an option

If patient is conscious and oriented, I think we need to explain him the situation that pain relief meds may cause some respiratory depression. If patient is already moribund then I think that's in his best interest.
