Question Lyme prophylaxis? Protecting what!

why we use deoxycycline prophylaxis in patient with tick bites
and rash with central clearing (lyme )

to protect against : CARDITIS OR UVEITIS

according to MTB
doxycyclin use to rx lyme diseas with 7th nerve palsy (bell pulsy)and joint pain
but for cardiac and neurological manifestation(meningitis- encephalitis-cranial n pulsy) we rx by IV. ceftriaxone

Also, it's not really "prophylaxis"...when someone has the rash, they HAVE Lymes disease, so the doxy is treating it.

there is no prophylaxsis guideline for lymes.....with evidence if bite...of suggested hicking trip...dox is used for treat...as suggested earlier by misspatho...

Doxy is used for treatment of Lyme Disease, sp. with rash, bells palsy, arthritis..
Cardiac and Neural involvement, give 1.v. Ceftriaxone..

also, history of tick bite, and no rash development - nothing to be given..
but if tick attached to body for more than 24 hrs give Doxy even if no rash..

THEN WHAT ABOUT UVEITIS IN LYME IS IT OCCURE USUALLY ??
