Question How to calculate SAAG

Hi,
I wasn't too sure on how to calculate SAAG (serum ascitic albumin gradient) for spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. So if we have the following values:
albumin (ascitic fluid): 2.0 g/dL
serum albumin: 2.8 g/dL

so do we do albumin (ascitic fluid): 2.0 g/dL / serum albumin: 2.8 g/dL = 0.7

or

serum albumin: 2.8 g/dL/ albumin (ascitic fluid): 2.0 g/dL= 1.4

Thank you!

Default

SAAG = (albumin concentration of serum) MINUS (albumin concentration of ascitic fluid).

It's minus, not divide by.

It's the difference, it's the gradient.

S.albumin - A.albumin= SAAG
2.8-2.0=0.8
