ObGyn Vaginal Ultrasound allowed or not if suspecting Placenta Previa?

Basically the title says it:

Do we use Abdominal Ultrasound or Vaginal Ultrasound when we suspect placenta previa?

We don't use TVS. TAS is absolutely preferred in PP.

this is what fischer says, however in uptodate they say that VUS is used because its only inserted for a few cm's and wouldnt affect the placenta even if it was totally covering the cervical os

anyone could share what they read from UW? i cant recall how UW answered this

I did this question on Uworld last week and I am pretty sure the answer was no TVS only TAS.

what is uptodate?

EDIT : I looked it up, it seems to be good. But I think it takes time for those sorts of guidelines to come into practice...VBAC wasnt attempted for the longest time after it was suggested..so I am confused now..

UpToDate is a medical source on the internet, lots of people use it for recommendations and guidelines

perhaps a poll should be used for this question

The accuracy of transvaginal ultrasound is 100% in diagnosing and confirming placenta previa. while it's only 95% for transabdominal ultrasound.

There's no contraindication to TVU. The contraindication is to digital examination of the cervix, but U/S can be done safely.
