Question Asking patient to lay back on table

How do we do this ?
What do we say ?
Do we help them ?
Do we adjust the table ?
Are the beds adjusted ?

Also I know we help them back up but how do we do it ?

Can some one please post a video, I cant find one, or tell me how please ?

Thank you

put down the table, tell them to please lie back and pull out the leg rest.
I don't think you need a video for everything- It is common sense.

I agree with val7. If you need to ask such things, then you probably haven't spent time working as a doctor at all.

You say " I need you to lie (? lay) down to examine your abdomen now & I'll hep you with that" . Then gently put your left hand behind their upper back AND simultaneously pull out the leg extension with your right hand in one swift motion. Then adjust the drape to cover their feet (and rest of the body depending on the region you are examining). Do the exact same maneuver in the reverse order (push the leg extension in with your right hand & support their back with your left hand in one swift motion) when you have completed the examination and when you have said "you may get up now and I'll help you with that".
Hope this helps.

Never helped any one lie/lay down, always been helping up.

the nurses prep them in the hospitals , clinics in US I did clinical rotations, externship and volunteered.

The ones in pain, the rest, I have never layed anyone down , Never. My husband did that in the rotations, he loved working with beds, I was always too busy to pay attention to how to lay/lie some one back.

Sorry, no video. This is what I learned during Kaplan course & live practice.
Just practice it (you can use a pillow or your husband!) till it becomes your second nature. It's not hard.

I think you are overthinking it... it is not something you need to practice, it comes natural. have your husband sit on a bed, then tell him to please lie down. none of my patients in the exam needed help lying down, they were happy to do it when I asked them to!
You will be fine

In my husbands exam, he asked a patient to lie back, the patient fell to the ground and told him he will sue the whole clinic. Thats why i am scared.

this is what i used to do n hope it helps---
i would say- i need you to lie down for the further examination, let me help you do that- n i would just support the back while the pt is leaning back, with my Lt hand n put my rt hand on pt's shoulder. i did it with all the patients.Probably that improves CIS score too as we kind of become their partner in the problem.
And unfortunately if you do get a case like your husband's, just remember they are only acting and will be normal as soon as u comfort them. Your action would not matter as long as you are showing the concern and compassion. If they are supposed to fall/show emotions, they will do it no matter what
