Question Expressing Empathy and Communicating with the SP

Guys, would you answer the following qs:

1. How do you guys express empathy? "I'm sorry to hear that..." What else?

2. During summarization, is it ok do not mention PE findings but chief complaint only? or mention both of them?

3. How many transitions do you use? Do you use them before FH, SexH, SocialH, Ob\Gyn?

It's a good idea to outline to the SP what is your next move, there's no harm in doing that.
More importantly, transitions are used to stop an unnecessarily prolonged phase of history taking. Like for example if the patient kept talking irrelevantly in family history, it's prudent then to say "OK, we are done with that, now let me ask you few personal questions" ....

Thank you! I already have 1 month CSEVideo subscription. However, I did not find answers for my questions there yet...

PM is a good idea, though!

hi gvv
let me help out here,

in the videos when she say im sorry to hear that or may i do this or just listens as the sp complains and goes on and on that the empathy part, if the sp shows pain and she says i understsnd and im sorry thats alos empathy what ive gathered is that just be really nice to the sp the saying from csevideo is "love the sp adn the sp will love you back and they also told me treat the sp like its your best friend and that will help with showing empathy just like the lady does in the video like in the sample how the sp goes on and on about her kid and the doc just listens and say i understand ok so thatts that.

when you finish the pe you have to say based on mthe physical and the history i think you may have or may be experiencing, thats what they do in the video if youlsiten to her closure yu will see she mentions some pe finding and goes over most of the history like based ontehinformation you have given me you fell and your ankle hurts and this is the first time based on my pe i think you may have sprained it lets run some test and take it from there, its o word for word but that is the right way

transitions are so important, use them every time, my professors told us this, you have to say may i ask you about your family history, that tell the sp why your asking and what your doing and my professors said that part of the cs is to see how you can inform the sp on what you are doing and show them respect and not just expect them to answer and do whatever you want.
watch her closely and read the notes all this stuff is in the notes
this is my second attempt and i wishe i saw these videos the first time i would have passed!
good luck pm if you want
