Stethoscope Examining the Heart in the CS encounter

Is it OK if we examine the patient sitting down only (palpation, auscultation, look for JVD and carotid bruits)? It's just that I have seen videos in which the heart is examined while lying down and sitting up as well. Should we do both?

Default Prefer sitting position

For the JVP, the patient should be inclined at 45 degree semi-sitting position.

For the other stuff you can do it either sitting or lying. It's only certain murmurs and sounds that are more clear on sitting and that wouldn't be scrutinized in the CS exam.

I personally prefer the sitting position, as it will allow you to examine the patient from the back at the same time.
