i plan to update programs as soon as i get results.. and hope they will put us form hold position into active position. not being ecfmg certified is quite a big problem. but there are previous year examples that they receive interviews after updates. although dec 3 is deadly late.. lets pray we pass it what else do we have left..

Default failed CS

Failed cs taken in Houston in October 15! Failed in SEP only:googled n found its rare for ppl to fail only in SEP these days! I did my education in English medium and have a fair English: nobody pointed it out. How can this happen? What shoud I do? My step scores are 250+ in both steps. Will rechecking help?

I didn't get mine either, did it in California October 20. But results only come out on Wednesday, so if you didn't get your's too, we'll wait for next Wednesday. If it didn't come out then... Then the Wednesday after, 98% of all scores are out by this Wednesday, this is written on the USMLE website. Good luck to all of us, and hard luck to those who didn't make it.

I took my exam in California, 20 Oct. And got my result yesterday and it was a PASS.

I'm an IMG from Jordan, passed this exam from the first attempt, and got a star(high performance) in SEP section.

Moral of the story, IMGs shouldn't listen to myths on the internet to only do CS in Texas or Chicago. Its non-sense. The exam is the same everywhere, and the patients were very cooperative and friendly. I felt they were very professional. On my test day, there were 21 UCLA students, 2 from johns Hopkins and I was the only IMG, and didn't feel anything abnormal or """ racist""" as some people on the internet claim.
I know test dates are hard to find for IMGs, but taking a test anywhere doesn't make any difference, so go for it.
Good luck all

Default Step 2 Oct 2014 Los Angeles- P

I took the test early Oct 2014 in Los Angeles and received my score Dec 2014 and passed. I attend a MD program at a state university in the Western US region.
My preparation:
1) Step 2 CS manual
2) practice focused PE skills on real people/pts and note writing
3) simulation of CS exam at my university

I flew in the day before. Stayed at the airport Hilton (4.5/5). Ate all my meals at the Carls Jr next to the hotel. Took a cab to the test center. Arrived 30 min early. Nice staff. Very friendly and professional. All I needed was a stethoscope (I used a Littmann Master Cardiology) and short whitecoat. They provided a decent variety of drinks (soda/water/tea/juice) and a meal (sandwiches, salad, cookies, brownies, chips).

The test was long and the exam rooms were a little warm. Every scenario was fair game/reasonable. The experience was exactly like my simulation CS exam and as outlined in the CS manual. When I returned home, I thought I failed the exam. In the worst case scenario, I would have to retake the test.

If you just took the test and are worried/anxious, there is nothing you can do (that doesnít help). Buy yourself something nice and you might feel better. Remember: you donít have to do everything correctly to pass the exam. I didnít do many important PE and often ran out of time and I still passed in the higher performance range. I even pushed too hard and the patient said I hurt her.

*I don't often visit forums but this one helped me feel better after taking the exam. Therefore, I am contributing my experience to hopefully put someone else at ease. Please message me with any questions thanks. Good luck with interviews/match!

Thanks,
-D
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips:
1) I avoid caffeine because it makes me urinate every 10-15 min. The LA testing site has nearby bathrooms that are private and safe for #2 if that is important.
2) You donít need to bring food/water. Maybe Tylenol if you are worried about HA.
3) They donít allow watches so be prepared to used the wall clock to monitor your time.
4) Some people used the First Aid book. I didnít. Maybe worth looking at?
5) Practice on real people if possible (obvious, I know).
6) Remember, you might get a female patient so be ready for that.
7) Honestly, if you made it through to 4th year of medical school, you will have all the skills/knowledge to easily pass this test if you properly prepare.
