Default Chances for matching after cs fail (IMG)

Hello, Im a FMG with a step 1 of 231, step 2 ck of 239 both on first attempts. I recently failed the CIS part of my CS (due to poor preparation and nervousness), and would like to know if it is worth continuing my pursuit for either FM or IM.
1. Would more clinical experience/research and step 3 help "cover up" my mistake or are programs in general unforgiving when it comes to failing?
2. Would having a green card after marrying my american girlfriend also help?
3. With all this, what do you think my chances are of matching?

Hey,

Statistics shows that IMG do actually match after failing the CS exam.
You can refer to the Charting Outcomes for IMG, posted on the NRMP website.

With your (potential) green card, you will be eligible to apply for programs that others are not eligible to apply for because of their visa status, as some programs just don't sponsor visa. Step 3 is a plus, programs like those who already finished their step 3, as such candidates will be wholly dedicated to the daunting tasks of the internship period..

In my opinion, you shouldnt quit.. keep fighting..

Best of luck

M

Thank you for your opinion max!
I've been looking at the data from the NRMP website and with my scores I have around 50% chance of matching for IM or FM with my scores.
As for candidates with 2nd attempts in CS in FM, 118 didn't match and 20 matched. (14%)
In IM, its a little higher with 28%.
I don't know, maybe I'm being a little too calculating but the numbers certainly don't favor me!
Maybe I should try for a residency that doesn't care as much if you suck at interpersonal skills like pathology... (37%)
