Question Going back to HPI

While practicing my history taking I noticed I would forget to ask question about the present illness but remember I during past history. If I go backup present illness and ask those questions will it be held against me?

No, it's ok. You can ask questions you forgot during the physical exam even. I've been told that in Kaplan Live Online course. The point in this exam is to be yourself. If you forget something, say so and do it, even if you're at the closure.

I think it is okay.

Thumbs Up It's OK and some tips for you

As Haisook and DrWolfCS2 pointed out. It's perfectly normal to go back and ask questions that you forgot.

The SPs are trained in such a way to check you out on whatever you have asked even though they were not in sequence.

Another tip, with regards to forgetting questions, is the use of mnemonics. The PAMHUGSFOSS is specifically designed for the History of Present Illness.

Another tip, after you finish the history taking, ask the SP if he/she has something to add. The best time to ask about that is while washing your hands.
