Default My CS Mistakes and i passed!

hello all. i would like to write a bit about my cs experience how i was so worried i failed cause it certainly felt like it at one point. hopefully this will help to relieve some anxiety for those waiting for their results. the examples here are NOT the cases that i had during the test. it is for easier understanding only.

first case - i guess i panicked. headache but i did not do a full neurological exam. i was so worried i would run out of time. i did an extremely focused exam but forgot a lot. did not check for neck stiffness, gait etc. i forgot a lot of questions too. though i memorized pamhugsfoss i still missed a lot. maybe i should have practiced more

cases in the middle i calmed down a bit. i think i did ok. one patient kept trying to give me clues to ask more about OSA, he kept asking what about my trouble sleeping at night? and i didnt see it and missed it. but i wrote in my PN as a differential anyway but with minimal supporting facts except the obvious which was obesity. so try to be sensitive on what the patient is trying to tell you. i kept asking them is there anything else? and thats when they try to tell you something more.

2-3 lung cases i did a terrible PE. i read somewhere after i took the exam that for lung you have to do both anterior and posterior exam. but i only did posterior and i was certain i failed. i even forgot to check cervical lymph nodes.

one case of wrist sprain but i didnt check for sensation. only tested muscle strength and range of motion.

i think the rest was okay. i didnt have trouble writing PN cause i did a focused exam so there was nothing much to write and i had enough time.

and also i think i know which were the two cases that weren't scored because the SPs were not as professional and took awhile to answer my questions. the rest were pretty confident and knew what and how to ask me challenging questions.

thats all i can remember for now. i prepared for a month. read FA once and then practiced with a physician and psychiatrist on skype and in person, had one skype partner too and that was it. took the exam a month after CK helped a lot too. good luck everyone!

hi...congrrats for the result...i just took my exam 2 weeks back....i m really worried...

1. messed up the differentials and forgot to ask obs gyne history, i skipped it bcs she was not sexually active.
2. this sp was constantly staring at expressions...was not even findings....i was sweating like anything during the PE. he asked me to address him by dr...which i dint except in the last when i was closing the case.
4. very good
5. very good
6. sp was expressions....kept saying no to everything....i did PE and closed the case. she said smthin i dint understand and asked her to repeat. i forogt her name....but somehow read it from the information inside the room.
7. ran out of time...just finished PE and had to come out
8.very good
9. very good
10. forgot to counsel on alcohol...he was drinking 1 beer per day...less than 18 yrs of age.
11. good
12. good

I dint tell about the investigations in about 4-5 cases....i just said that i will do investigations to be sure about the diagnosis..... however in every case i introduced myself, dint do any mistakes as far as draping, pulling leg rest etc were concerned....i kept talking about irrelevant stuff to sps just to engage them...i dont know how wud it affect my result....I m really worried now...!

Default scared!

Hey guys, I just took my cs a few weeks ago and really scared about how it went. Especially the ICE part, if someone could shed some light:

1) can't remember it
2) should've put the the 2nd ddx as first and vice versa but they were both good. 3rd ddx was way off, had one supporting point, don't know why I even put it
3) first 2 ddx pretty wrong. 3rd ddx was way off (had supporting points but only 1-2)
4) went well
5) went well
6) went ok
7) encounter went ok, ddx were also ok (i didn't have more than 2 supporting points for each ddx)
8) really wasn't sure what patient had, weak ddx and 1-2 points supporting them
9) went well, but forgot 1-2 important questions about chief complaint
10) went well, but forgot 1-2 important questions about chief complaint as well
11) went well
12) went well

Aside from that I would usually finish with 1-2 minutes to spare after closure, counseling and the basics (washing hands, proper draping, knocking, physical exam etc). I'm mostly worried about the ICE but then again who knows about the other sections, I just feel I messed up a bunch of diagnosis that I should've gotten.

Thanks for any advice
