I think it would be great. That way you could familiarize yourself with different clinical scenarios and buildup your history and physical exam skills as well. Obviously review your FA and mini cases and practice typing out timed pt notes.

I'd do it if I was in your position.

as someone who is doing an externship now after passing cs i can say some PRO'S AND CONS

PROS
1) externship b4 cs will help with familiarizing ur self with the patient room and instruments. also seeing the different kinda scenarios that could present
2) will help you out with knowing how to arrange and type your patient note properly (only if u were allowed to use the computer system during the externship)
3) u could pick up on a "little bit" of clinical skills

CONNS
1) u will not learn stuff like some bedside manners , empathy, "PEARLS" etc because in the real world its kinda different from the test
2) u wont really learn the "material" Needed for ICE
3) u wont necessarily learn how to be "extremely thorough" with each case that presents as is expected from us on the exam

bottom line it might help but its not very necessary. if u ask me i'll say dont waste ur time... just pick up a good partner and practice. or join a course
