Default A question about WORK UP

hey there,
i have a question regarding workup section.
Suppose we see a 65-yo guy with fatigue and our ddx are
1)pancreatic cancer
2)depression
3)colon cancer
In this case is it ok to order TSH or other tests to evaluate hypothyroidism and other ddx which are not mentioned in our ddx?!

Thumbs Up Thyroid and depression.

Yes.

Thyroid -related depression could be a causal factor. Hypothyroidism could also cause fatigue and should be a differential.

Generally match up the DDX and workup for each of the top 3 DDX (pancreatic cancer, depression and colon cancer) and then include TSH as the fourth workup as you feel necessary.
