Default CS visa rejected

Hello everyone.. today I got a bolt from the blue, my CS visa got rejected on account of not having strong ties to my home country.. I have passed step 1 and appeared for step 2 ck(result comes out this wednesday). I graduated in august 2014 and have since been studying for these steps. The Visa Officer didnt look at any of my documents, not even the ECFMG visa letter. All he asked was why are you going? I told him to take step 2 cs exam. He then quickly asked are you still in med School? I told him I have just recently graduated. He than asked are you living with your family? I said yes. Are you single? Yes. Are you working? No sir because I have been preparing for these step exams.. Then he said I am sorry you are not qualified for B1/B2. He gave me the 214(b) letter and said you can reapply. The whole thing was over in a couple of minutes I am so devestated by this. What can I do now? I dont see how I can drastically change my circumstances to reapply. some one please suggest something.

Don't be down and hard on yourself because this thing happens to many Doctors. (A friend of mine was granted on the fourth trial)
I have had the same incident in my home country Ethiopia. I was rejected without looking at my documents. The second time I went in, which was after 3 weeks, I was accepted without looking at my documents except the ECFMG visa letter. (Nothing to show my ties to my home country.)
The problem I had when I went in to the interview is not being sure that I had enough evidence to support my case.
These are the things that I want you to think about when you go into the interview again:
1. You have to know that they want you. (Why would he ask you to reapply knowing that you are not going to come back with a better ties after 2 weeks. Remember that the you are a Doctor whom the US is in acute need of.)
2. Dress well,
3. Your answers should be short and precise (Don't be circumstantial),
4. Be loud and confident,
3. look the person on the eyes,
4. You have paid for the interview and you have the right to be interviewed appropriately,
5. Tell the officer that you are going to the USA for an exam and you are going to come back because you could get a good paying job in your country while in the USA you have nothing to work on except taking the exam. You are young going to the US for an exam and coming back.
6. This time you are going to be asked: What changed over the past two weeks/months for me to grant you a visa? And what went wrong last time? For me I said I have the same documents but I said "I think I didn't do a good job convincing the officer as to why I'm going to the US."
7 Reschedule it fast because you have to take the CS soon (Before July 10th?) to apply for this year.

Good luck with your second trial.

hi mine got rejected twice , with the same reason
here is what i did
if u r from india , dont apply again freqently, they should not feel that u r desperate in goin to US, try working in some good reputed hospital for atleast 6 months , get employement letter, pay slip and then apply.you will get it , that is how i got it.

Some pointers:
- Its your responsibility to show ties to home country.
- Telling them that you start working soon and have job offer is enough.
- If you carry the proof, you will feel confident and they probably will not ask about job offer letter.
- Tell them that the only time you have for CS is before you start working.
- Go with a smile, complement the person on something, anything for that matter and be proactive.
- Do not mention family ties or friends in US.
Good luck
