Smile I passed cs today :)

Hi
I am a forum newbie, I passed the cs today all three areas very good report.
my training was pretty basic all I did was read uw cases and watch csevideo like a hundred times over a 5 weeks. The exam was not hard Ihad some weird cases, I would say the hardest cases for me were the ones when the sp really doesnt say anything and you have to figure what they what you to ask. its all good.
Im on to step 1 now I have a question anyone in cs forum take kaplan assessment and what kind of score is passing for step 1 I took it yesterday and got 51% is that good?
thanks and good luck to all waiting

Congratulations on passing!

Questions for you:

1. For the hard cases, you said you had to figure out what they want you to ask, how did you deal with that?

2. For the physical exam, was it difficult to document all their signs, or were they mostly normal?

this is a double response I just got the same questions from someone else

there wasnt anything in the exam that was shocking at all except for one psyche case the guy wouldnt talk so I just said a few times anything else you would like me to know or would like to tell me about I reassured him everything was in confidence and then he said im just not feeling right and started to tell me about noises and bad relations with others, that was my only surprise but it was benign, the exam is pretty predictable you gotta just stay cool,
good luck

oh pe
no it was like if the chief complaint was stomach ache then you got all your pe findings in stomach ache , you wouldnt get a stomach case with headache or neuro or any other system mixed in. so pe was basic
I did basic pe on each sp all did cardio and lung and got my neuro down to like less then 5 min
good luck

thank you again~

I was worried because in First aid they list so many PE for each CC, like if it's amenorrhea you have to do

Thyroid
Abd: Ausc Palp Perc
Extremities Inspection
Neuro: visual fields, EOMI, DTRs

in addition to the usual cardio and lung auscultation.

tbk dont get me wrong you gotta do pe for all the cases
I wished i had used to the fa so I could tell you more about it, I jsut barely skimmed it, I mainly followed csevideo and Im telling you that because the way they did the pe was qucik and simple
what I mean is if you get an amenorrhea case and you have to do thyroid that takes like a 3 seconds, its not a must to ask them if they want water for swallow, to do abd no biggie there either its pretty quick if its just basic abd case, then for heart and lung I started every case that way, it was my firt thing got it done and over with, in the videos it shows that and while I was at the exam I talked to some amgs and they said they do heart and lung first every case, ok so for inspect skin thats quick too, so if you main concern is timing in pe there is a way to do all those parts in 5-6 min. good luck

hi sam
I spent about six weeks all I really used was csevideo, I got it in advance and was gonna use it next year, but I got a date last minute and took the test, for me that program was enough, I did look at fa but very briefly and some uw cases

Im american I live in new york i graduated from carib school they dont care when or how I take my exams so I did cs first, I took my test in phiully.
I dont know much about visas but I would recommend you register for the exam and the visa right away from what i see on other forums the both of them can take a long time.
I hope this helps and if you have any quest Ill do all I can to help

good luck

kasem

yeah 2 -3 beers or drinks a day for aguy is norm in US, and about 2 5 times a week norm for women in us, but what I did was no matter how they said they had to drink in alcohole per week I asked do you think you have a problem with alcohole and one sp say no I only drink three time per week, but if htey say no only 1 time per week then no need to question cage, you wanna do cage if they are drinking more then 3-4 time per week, it is confusing in cs exam we must do cage for up to 5 time per week drinking, but in books it says it is normal or ok for male to drink up to five times 2 drinks and this is not alcoholic.

please dont touch bad limb, if there is pain say im sorry I will examine other limb, this is img and amg process for the cs exam. in pn note put Not able to complete pe on due to painful joint, inspect first then palpate
good luck man

I have started this process but am still unsure if it is a good idea Im wondering if I will lack on the cs becasue of step 1 concentration
let me know what you think
thanks

@kmcl
Iknow alot of people practice on each other, i did very little of that, basically i maked beleive I was the lady in csevideo and did everything they did in the mirror and in my imagination, but i was sure I could do it in real life, i would suggest trying to get anyone to just do fake practice on even if its a imaginary friend, thats kinda what I did.

@jesse, I dont know, step 1 seems to be a big deal I have had to extend my exam by at least 2 months because it has alot of stuff you need to know, I would recomend using usmlerx and fa for step 1 and maybe at the end of your day review fa for cs, focus on step 1, but really only you know your abilities gl

@confident
I did nto know the new cs exam you have 15 min to type the note, in my exam I had ten min and after alot of practice it was enough time in the exqam. I suggest you type everyday a few notes until you are sure you can do it under the pressure of the real exam.

@ray84 yeah I did forget a few things and at first i felt like I passed then as the time lingered on I could think of all kinds of things that could be bad for my score I read that this goes on for us in all the exams I heard the same thing in stp 1 and ck forums, if you feel you did good try to ignore you fears until you get your score and then worry about it or just celebrate.

@umraparacha I recomend csevideo and fa and I say this only cause I have the experience that those videos helped me alot in my exam and reading the fa is good combo, I only used fa briefly and skimmeduw cases.
thanks for the congrats guys and gl to all of you

keep practicing typing everyday for atleast half an hour, type out the patient note. Initially its tough but u finally get the speed, the same thing happened with me as well. I don touch type but even then i could finish it in 10mins. U will feel its impossible but trust me u can do it. If u have 20-24 WPM its more than enough. PRACTICING IS THE KEY
