Default CS experience yesterday

I took my exam I think I failed but after reading many post I feel a bit encouraged. I prepared for 30 days and did all my cases in FA about 3 times. I practiced with a few med students and a Medical Attending. My experience the exam is not similar to any practice you will encounter while preparing. The tense and nerves makes it all different. Hopefully I passed I screwed up on maybe 3-4 cases. My cases were pretty weird, I had no cardiac, GI cases, Depression cases. I had Migraine, Carpal Tunnel, Incontinence, Pertussis, HIV-Diarrhea, TIA, and Acute plyneo which were pretty straight forward but again the nerves with typing especially if you are slow. I forgot to document many things I actually done in the exam during my straight cases. I also had a few terrible acting SP, I believe they can make or break you. It's completely bullshit because most patients with acute problems usually are willing to give up information that will aid in your making a diagnosis and if you cant obtain information you proceed to get labs etc and reassess. Some of these SP should consider that most students are in debt and planning to further there education so they should be informed to provide information without ****ing with you. To them I believe it is a game to pretend and act. Its about money, the exam brings in between 70-80 million dollars per year, yes do the math 70-80 million. My advice is study, close every case, and try to be calm and reassuring. Remember some doctor who doesn't want to take tme and look at the videos while grading to make an assessment on whether to pass someone or not is complete bullshit, along with SP who know absolutely nothing about medicine make a determination on your future is absolutely bullshit. Enough with my venting. I wish everyone well and study hard, please review the mini cases and know them like you know your name. They will aid in the hard cases that I screwed up on.

I understand your frustration. I had a similar experience and was pretty certain I'd fail, specially after looking at other people's experiences in this forum. I made a lot of mistakes, had big problems with typing and was not comfortable with most of the cases (most people say that more than 50% of cases are ridiculously easy...mine weren't). Seeing people concerned about forgetting to wash their hands in one case, not putting enough negatives (nobody told me we were supposed to put negatives, only postives!) or only listing FIVE diagnosis and not SEVEN (I listed 2 in most cases, would never list 5...or 7) made me feel devastated and hopeless. Guess what? I passed....and did even touch the borderline. So, I'd recommend you to wait and stop thinking about it. After what I've been through, I can tell you, it is not worth the stress. Less than 30% of IMGs (and less than 5% of AMG) fail. This is not a high failure rate, at all. The odds ARE in your favor.

Hello..i took my exam 1 month back nd waiting for the result..this wait is certainly killing me..i am very concerned about 2 things..first in all the cases while washing hands i asked the sp if it is alright if i ask few ques to test orientation..i don't know if i should have done this or not but i couldnt think of doing anything else while washing hands...the other mistake i did was i did not do kerning brudzinski in meningitis case..i was sure she had neck stiffness so thought there is no point in hurting her more...was this a blunder...thanks

These mistakes seem to be very benign. I don't even think that talking to a patient while washing your hands is a mistake (probably not). Just hang in there and try not to think about it.
