sorry to hear about that. I took mines on nov 30th, still no score...I think you should take a day or so off, and relax. I know ppl who have matched with an attempt on cs and you have good step 1 and step 2 scores. Could you share what you studied?

I studied only on first aid for all the exams. for step 1 and ck I did also bank...
for step cs I studied first aid only...
but during my cs exam, I had the feeling that the last 3 encounters, the actors were really fed up of being asked the same things again and again...

I was asking what you studied for cs. Looking at your score report your data gathering was not good. Its possible you didnt ask all the relevant questions....

I studied the first aid, I read all the cases. I tried to ask all the relevant questions...even if honestly in few cases I forgot minor questions about recreational drug use. Maybe my mistakes were that I didn't perform a perfect PE, but in all patients I did cardio, pulmonary exam, other than in one with low back pain where I did only the muskoloskeletal. I did many spelling mistakes in my patient note...but I don't think it could affect the passing rate..
where did you study?

thats harsh...I dont know why it happened then....I did first aid and some uw cases. take a day off to clear your head....you were really close to passing and im sure you will do great next time you take it. You have came this far, so dont get down on yourself...you can do it...

I know...but it's really frustrating not passing just for data gathering...I can't understand how it happened...just after the exam I thought I didn't do great, because I made spelling mistakes on the PN, but I knew I had all the right differentials...and from the score I got..it seems I had everything perfect other than data gathering...the only part that is not evaluated by a real doctor...

wow... im very sorry about that... but i know people who match with 2 cs attempts... so please try to relax...

now... your post is making me worry... to be honest i was asking myself the same question last night... i only have a skype partner 'cause i am not able to practice live, but my brother came on vacations and we are practicing some cases... he's not a doctor, and... if, for instance, i ask about "cough" he says "no" and then the further questions are not asked... and, another example is that i actually ask him some questions, and he answers back... but then he doesn't mark it on the checklist... it makes me think of SPs... they're not doctors as my brother... what if it happens the same???

however.... how is it possible that you have a low performance in data gathering and then make a good patient note??? without the interview you won't ever be able to make a decent PN... you know what i mean??

thanks...I know what you mean..
...for me it doesn't make any sense, having scored so so in PN and so bad in data gathering...I thought this things were related, but maybe they are only in this part of the world...
...I think that my problem maybe could have been due to some missing maneuvers in the PE...not really in the questions I made to the patient....
...anyway..my biggest concern is not really having to study everything again...but it's all the money I have to pay again for such exam...unbelievable...

Well ,,

You have already passed the hard exams with good scores so the hard part is over ... I know it must be frustrating having to retake the exam ! But I'm sure you'll do great next time ...

I encourage you to take the exam again, some of my classmates who matched had lower scores than yours and passed CS from the 2nd attempt !!

Best of luck buddy

i just received my CS score report today... i thought i did good but for my surprise the data gathering was completely underscored... all in the lower performance area.. the only thing that save me is that my PN note was scored very high so i endedn with a ICE in the borderline... i dont understand what these people are looking for... your supposed to get a FOCUSED history and examination... thats pretty much all you can do in 15 minutes, thats what i did... so whats wrong with these data gathering problem.. someone must do something about it.. mabe if all failed people because of data gathering makes complaints to USMLE they start doing something about it... at least explaining why are all these people failing

actually the i think that the ONLY thing evaluated by a docor is the PN... al other things are evaluated by SP (cameras are there just for research purpose, they arenot used for scoring, nor does anyone seeing you in the other side of the mirror glass scores you so its almost ALL the SP scores)

Hello ...

No reason to stop though, you made it this far with good scores, just try to retake the test asap ...
If you're data gathering is this low, then obviously most of th SP's agreed that you didn't ask many of the questions you were expected to. so just try to ask at least 75% of the questions in FA, that would more than enough.

If you decide to retake the test, try doing it in Houston or Chicago ( better reputation among IMGs, not sure if there's something to it, but rumor has it !)

Best of luck buddy, keep going, you're almost there
