Smile Done with CS exam :)

Hi forum doctors to be
I have taken the CS exam and I am relieved by this
I am not sure If have passed or not I will know in a few weeks time.
regular exam like 12 cases not difficult, will share most of my experience when I get result don't want to jinx myself. but for those who are wondering csevideo does show what the real exam is like , it was this way for me and if I did it all just right I will have a pass.
God willing!
wish me luck

hi misspatho,

uw has cases and som pe videos that are a little confusing but its ok

csevideo has 48 cases that are like the cases in fa and the video shows you the whole case just like you will have to do it in the exam. you dont have to download anything you watch it on the website.

hi minashen
thank you and good luck to you to

hi, the trick is to practise and practise and practise. i didnt do so before my test and i am full of regrets. please practise the PN, learn what is important or not. the aim is not to document everything but to document important things. remember that theres a limit to how much you can type, i made that mistake and wasted valuable time deleting and starting over again. anytime i think of my cs i have a headache. please save yourself this and practise. GL

http://usmle.org/practice-materials/...-practice.html

hi, the pn template at the website seems not to have a limit but in the exam i had at least 2 episodes where the pn showed red and i was uncable to add anything to the notes so i had to delete.
what i mean by practise is, you do a case with your study partner, then you type out the pn in 10 minutes. after compare the content, organization to what you have in FA. if you dont have a study partner you read a case in FA and then type out your pn and compare with FA, either way please dont take the pn for granted.
i doubt that little mistakes like 'addvise' instead of advise are serious, pls read bebix post where she says that she had a lot of typos but passed well. practise also helps you to be able to think under pressure, there are so many situations that after submitting the pn was when the correct differential and test to be done came to my mind, imagine after submitting was when it would suddenly occur to me what the correct test would have been, frustrating!
my prob was this, i tried not to write alot during the patient encounter but then when it was time to type the pn i discovered that i had forgotten many things, eg i would take allergy hx but forget if the sp did have any allergy or not and then be forced to type NKDA. the key is practising and building up your memory so that you dont forget to document what you have asked. also practise helps you write an organised pn, i am so worried about the marker of my pn being pissed off about how poorly written they are, like i said i am so depressed about this test, its even difficult for me to study for CK.
all the best to you guys i believe you will do well. God bless

hi, everyone has to type in the exam, the only time you do not type is if the system is down and i believe that they quickly fix it. you should go online and search for free online typing tutors.
about the phthalmoscope, just go to youtube.com to learn how to use it. the basic rule is hold it in your RT hand, use your Rt eye to examine patients Rt eye, this way you do not kiss the patient which will be a disaster to do. for the Lt, hold in Lt hand use Lt eye to examine patients LT eye. the fundoscopy is impt to do in patient with headache, neuro complaints like paraplegia, vertigo, dizziness, all DM and HTN patient regardless of what their complaint for the day is
you may go to youtube and type any examination procedure to watch how it is done.

Hi i just wnated to respond to some of the questions

I used the pn timed page in csevideo to practice my typing, I did a note for each case in the timed area and this helped with my typing and timing

I did not use the opthamascope in the real exam and I wouldnt dream of using it, there is not enough time. I would put it in work up instead.

I am still waiting for my results but in the meantime working on step 1
good luck to you
