Hammer and Otoscope How to check Babinski reflex?

After completing Neuro examination in order to check Babinski reflex which way is preferred?
Shall we lie the patient or in a seated position so as to avoid the maneuver?
Any inputs would be greatly appreciated!

You can do it either way.

If the SP was sitting then you don't need to lie him down.
If the SP was supine on the couch then you don't need to sit him up.
