Take a live prep course. The exam is becoming more difficult and I had a few friends fail recently by just reading FA and practicing with each other. Don't risk it.

I completely agree and I don't have a lot of spare money to pay for courses, but after talking with my colleagues and teachers I decided that I didn't want to risk my chances of getting into an ER residency because I failed the exam. I hear all the time how hard passing the exam has become and that more and more people are failing. Having a course shows you exactly what to do and you fix your mistakes before you take the exam. The expense is worth it in my view.
