Default Taking the Step 2 CS as the first step - Prep advice?!

I am a medical student - will graduate soon.
Due to some reasons Im going to have to give the step 2 CS as my first step.
i had started preparing for CK a couple of months ago but then cancelled the exam as I wasn't confidant.
Anyway, I have decided to study for CS for the next 1-1.5 months now. I would like to know how to start preparing so that I ace it like all of you whose success stories i have seen on this forum.

Time : approx 1month (can study upto 8 hours day)

Materials : I have the Step 2 CS First Aid, should I try to get the Kaplan core cases as well? Anything else?
What about the gold usmle live ourse in Houston? Do you think I will need it?

Please tell me how to go about the prep - or maybe suggest a timetable for me?

PS : Please remember that I havent given step 1 or ck. And still a med student with no experience.

I haven't booked a date yet, planning to give it in the first or second week of April. Thinking of taking it in LA or Houston. Have you given step 1 or CK earlier or is this your first step as well? we could discuss what to study and how to.

hey man, i am prepping for 2cs as well. I am using FA as my main case book. Kaplan core cases is very good for the history taking and examinations. FA doesnt really cover those areas too well, especially when you are thinking of ways to rapidly assess a system. also, kaplan cases have a few extra cases not in FA. I would get it if i were you. not sure on any live courses but i am hoping my OSCEs here in the UK will have given me enough practice. FINGERS CROSSED! where are you thinking of taking it? im going to Philly in April, praying to pass this one.

Thanks smetin92 for such a detailed info!
I did think that PE & History taking was lacking in FA especially since the way they teach in my school is not similar to the US schools.
I will buy Kaplan now.
Im thinking of doing a live course 'cause i'm paranoid as it will be my first step.. so dont want to screw up.
Planning to take it in Houston or LA in mid April or May.. lets see.

We could discuss stuff while studying, PM me if you're interested. Btw I haven't started studying yet, will start seriously in a week

Thanks for the reply and good luck to you buddy!
