Unhappy I failed the CS just because of the SEP component!

Hi,
I got my CS score and I failed it because of SEP component (just borderline-low). Its unbelievable.
I don't understand that if i am not good in SEP, then how could I get high performances in ICE data gathering, patient notes and especially questioning skills. I get high-borderline in information sharing skill and borderline in professional manner. It doesn't make sense to me. Can any one help me in this regard?

Also want to know is it worth to go for recheck of my result?

And if I have to do it again then how can I do better in SEP next time?

Waiting if any one give some wise advice

Thanks

The only reason that I can think of, is that sometimes, broken and thick accents might be perceived by the SPs as "bad language". If the SP does not understand you well, he/she will mark you off for the language part.

It would be helpful if you upload your score report (just capture the performance, you don't need to show your name) so that we have a look and analyze it further.

Yeah,
It looks like it's only the SEP that you failed in.

I would suggest you take a Spoken English course and try to communicate with Americans as much as you can to improve your spoken English.

I know that you must be frustrated with this but don't give up, am sure you will make it next time.

Rechecking the results does not usually make any difference, I've never heard of anybody changing his/her results after requesting a recheck.

After looking at your score report, I would suggest you might get benefit from a live Step 2 CS Course to shape up for the next attempt, choose one of these mentioned here
http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-st...s-courses.html

Having extremely high scores (250+) in Step 1 and Step 2 CK would certainly minimize the impact of a second attempt on the CS but I would suggest that doing USCE and getting US LoRs and let them specifically mention about your English language skills, that can further dilute the deleterious effects of a failed CS attempt.

Another extremely important tip, is try to get connections at various residency programs, work on this from now, ask all friends and relatives near and far and try to get connections because what am afraid of is that your application will be filtered by the program coordinator without even looking at your Step 1 and CK scores and other CV data, but if you have a connection at least they'll be looking at your other assets and they might then change their mind and send you for an interview.
