Default Step 2 CS Timeline of Scoring

I took my last attempt on March 22 (first day of set) and received my score on July 6th at 11 am (first day of score release). Unfortunately, I failed the CIS component. I do realize what I could have done differently though.

I have registered and want to take the exam ASAP (if it's even possible to schedule a day) but was wondering if I take it during the last week of the current set, will I still get my results within the first 3 weeks? I know the site says 98-99% get their results during the first 3 weeks. Also is there any chance for me to get my result during the first 2?

Does taking it on the 11th or 12th increase those chances as opposed to the 16th? Does each day matter all that much when you're in the last week? I mean 98% of examinees will be through on the 15th. IDK does anyone have any idea? Any personal experience of how the timeline worked for you is much appreciated.

Not sure if it increases chances but myself and several people who took it very near the end of the cutoff got out scores on the expected first wednesday of the reporting schedule. If you don't mind me asking, what do you think you did wrong on CIS? It just seemed so random to me that I got borderline

I got borderline as well. Make sure to send score recheck!

I did very basic CIS things. I always summarized problem and then at end explained my diagnostic assumptions and management plan.

I could have empathized more. I did say stuff like "oh that must be frustrating!" or "I'm sorry about that" but it was usually very brief or when it was something I perceived as unfortunate situation. Could basically empathize with EVERY patient next time.

Also I glossed over counseling about smoking. I did it once but it seemed like bad time to do it since patient was clearly in pain so after that one I just forgot and stopped doing it.

I could have used more transition phrases. We really don't have much time for that and I was focused on getting all the information down. Maybe too much writing as well.

I usually always let patient know what I'm doing during PE but I'm not sure I always did that this time.

Also, I could have asked coughing patient if they wanted any water. That's a given, IDK why I forgot!

My entrance could have improved. In real life, I first sanitize or wash hands to prevent spread of germs before shaking hands but in this situation that didn't work so well. So I'll be washing hands just before PE now.

Hope that helps!

Agree with all of those. Score recheck is worth it as well just in case. Also, did you get a chance to answer a challenge question for every patient?

Oh yeah but I can't remember anything standing out as particularly challenging.

Good reminder though - I remember making a mental "oh no" note during a patient encounter of how I didn't ask first few patients if they had questions. I thought it was still early enough to not dock me too much but in retrospect, I obviously made plenty of other CIS mistakes.

So yeah, I guess I deserved it
