Question Chances of Matching after Failing Step 2 CS

I am an IMG and have not yet given Step 1 and Step 2 CK. I gave Step 2 CS last year and failed. I would like to know that what are my chances of matching now? If I get good scores in Step 1 and 2CK, will I be able to match? I do have 3.5 months of USCE and some clinical rotations in UK and Singapore.

I am quite worried about my chances of matching and am not sure whether I should 'waste' my time and money in giving Steps now and staying 'unmatched' at the end.

Any help would be very valuable to me. Thank you.

Hey

There are plenty of people who match after a failed attempt at CS. Make sure that you have very good CK and Step 1 scores. Of course, your chance of matching into top university programs may be slim, but you have plenty of other choices. Just have a very good explanation of why you failed CS when appearing for interviews!

Whether you want to go through the match or want to be a physician in US is a decision that is TOTALLY up to you. You need to decide on that first and if you decide that you want to go through with it, you must work REALLY hard for it.

Regardless, there are plenty of people that were in your shoes and there are plenty of stories where they came out quite successfully in the match.

I can imagine what you people must be going through...i had a very close friend who had excellent scores in step 1 and 2 but he failed CS. at that time he was completely disheartened but then he worked very hard and finally matched into an IM program at upstate.
Firstly he took the CS exam after adequate prep, which included FA, Jaypee's video atlas and a 3 day course with Dr. Rohan (IN DELHI). He followed this up with regular practice with me and other friends.
After passing the CS exam, he did research for 6 months before applying for a residenct (got two publications during this period) and this helped him get a good IM program.

So dont lose hope...I am sure if you work hard, you can also match into good programs.

Best of luck

Preetishah is a scammer and actually is Dr Rohan who is trying to get publicity by operating under different names (most of them are female names) Once I even got a mail from someone claiming to be a girl asking me to enroll at Dr Rohan's course and guess what? The e mail address specifically was Dr Rohan's.

I can vouch for Dr Rohan's integrity. He trained me for the CS exam and I passed with a star. So please don't speak bad about him without knowing about him.

Hi,

I failed C.S exam and came to know abt it yesterday. My step 1 score is 242 and I am giving C.K in next few months. Since my chances of Residency have decreased I want to spend 6 months doing research with someone in U.S. I already have 3 publications. Please let me know about ur friend so that I can ask him about the research options. Thanks!
