Default Help!!!!! Advice about CS

I want to get advice or opinions about taking CS before all other steps? what do you think about taking CS before step 1? I have been working in a clinical setting for a while, and can devote maybe 4hours daily to study and fulll day at least 8hrs on wknds. How long do you think I will need to prepare ? is 6-8 weeks feasable? What resources are recommended? Study partner? Please any suggestions or advice welcomed. I'm native english speaker IMG grad 09. Plz help!!!

You can take CS first, actually step 1 has no any help in this exam, may be step 2 CK. If you have reasonable clinical experience, the time you suggested is enough. The best book is FA, then add to that CES videos.
But for sure you need a study partner.

My honest opinion is CS is 1200$ exam that really is a total waste of time and money. You can def pass it, I studied for a week or so and passed. I have many friends who literally read the FA 1X through the day before and passed it. If you have a decent differential list and ok physical exam skills, are nice and friendly, speak clear english, wash your hands and can type quickly you will be fine!! The one thing you don't wanna do is fail it so make sure you are up to snuff on your clinical skills and that you have a wide list of differentials, labs etc. You def dont need step 1 or 2CK to pass though, I took it right after step 1. 6-8 weeks is too long, and the CES vids are a waste of money and time. If anything take 2 weeks with a friend run through the first AID book with them front to back, practice using the software online on the USMLE site that you will type on and then read the book one more time before your exam and you are golden. Def know that you have to write pertinent +/-'s. Good luck
