Question Limit to diagnostics?

Is there a limit to the number of diagnostics you should order?

Should all diagnostics be related to the top three conditions you've listed? What if you have a far differential, but still important to rule out? (eg., ECG for a patient complaining of loss of consciousness that is more likely a seizure, but the danger of an arrhythmia should be ruled out)

Will you be deducted points if you write a diagnostic unexplained by the differential? What if it's an unnecessary diagnostic?

Thanks!

Follow up question: are we required to include ONLY the INITIAL diagnostic tests? For example, if your primary working impression is SLE, might it suffice to just include ANA, anti dsDNA, and maybe a UA? Maybe, it would not yet be appropriate to include chest xray (to check for effusion), BUN/Cr for lupus nephritis etc?

I checked the PN simulator in the usmle website and there can be up to 8 rows for the diagnostics. I just wanted to know if it will work to our disadvantage if we put as much diagnostics as related to our differentials.

I hope someone would try to answer. Thank you.
