There was one patient to whom i mentioned malignancy, but later said that it's low on my differential but to be on the safer side, we'll need to rule it out with some tests. I remember asking them if they had any questions for me (maybe not in 1-2 cases since time had run out). Overall, the patients didn't seem annoyed or anything...they were smiling pleasantly and there were no awkward moments. What i can do at this point? This is just so overwhelmingly confidence shattering.....
Failed as well on the CIS section. I'm so upset about this. I really don't know how to recover from this. I also don't know how this is going to affect me with applying to residency this year considering that the earliest but feasible dates for registration are in October.

hey this was one of the most unpredictable exams ever, and i dont think people pass or fail on merit alone- a lot of luck is involved as well. They should definitely give us a better evaluation - at least let us know where we went wrong.... otherwise everyone will come out of the exam centre with their hearts in their mouth irrespective of how well they performed... The anxiety associated with this exam was ridiculous!

Absolutely. I'm disappointed about the outcome to this exam. I believe that more information needs to be disclosed regarding evaluations made by the SP. I had a borderline score in CIS with excellent in everything else. So, I have no clue as to where to pick up from here. I'm considering taking a course this time but I have no clue as to what components need to be improved.

I doubt that is correlates to your score..if I remember clearly, my score for step 1 was delayed but it went well. Good luck...

Hey people! been away for weeks as I couldn't bare to be on the forum with all the nail-biting tension.
Anyhow, IMG, last name starts with K, sat on 10th April at Philly, got results back today at about 10:00hrs EDT ...it's a PASSSS spent the past 5 hours celebrating with family and friends!!!

I was such a mess these past eight weeks remembering all the counselling I should have done, times I didn't smile enough, or my sweaty, limp, clammy, cold handshake (it's all that adrenaline!!)

Congs to those that passed. to those that didn't, My heart aches for you, it's really hard, but don't let any one take HOPE away from you. Try, Try, Try again.

I am still waiting too.
Is there a rule for the sequence when they are sending score report or just randomly? Is the time related to chances of pass vs. fail?

IT DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING. The timing when they report it does not mean anything. PLEASE start reading the official information on usmle.org. It clearly states that they usually report it in sequence of people taking it, but some results can take longer because of quality control or something like that. Please be assured, the fact you have not gotten your score today does not mean anything! Hang in there!

i totally agree with VAL7 ...no one knows the answers apart from the USMLE ppl themselves. By trusting different opinions on the forum, you will just stress yourself. So just try to chill and hope for the best.

Nope. It doesn't work now. It hasn't been for a while now. Everyone gets the same message, whether pass or fail, before results are declared.

The movin finger writes and having writ
Moves on;nor all thy piety nor wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a line
Nor all thy tears wash out a word of it

Having said so,,,,,,,,I was coming from London on British airways at heathrow
To Philly for cs and out of all the dozens of passengers in line ,,,,,I was picked up
Only when the officer looked at my green passport,,,,I asked why,,,,,he said its luck......anyone gets picked up by chance,,,,,and after some interrogation I was in plane to Philly,,,,,,,,,,,

Was it just some gender or nationality or religion bias? Don't know,
But it points towards something very special.......if a highly trained US or UK officer can be biased regarding their emotions or whatever u call it ...why can't the standardised patients not be biased? And why can't the patient note checker be biased regarding whether you write his or her choice of patient note.....now if you say this to ecfmg and usmle,,,they gonna say they are well trained and bla bla bla......but the fact is that mistakes do happen from spa and patient note checker,,,,,,,,,especially when you give them your weak points ......and people who don't gve them weak points they pass like the ones in this thread.....for patient note the most important thing is the work up and d/ds written in correct order along with findings about 2 -3 solid supportive findings.....and work up written in correct ascending order from most likely and non invasive tests to most unlikely and invasive tests.....for hx write all caps if you are slow types....and write always positive findings first,,,,,,cis you already passed,,,,,

I am sorry, but I don't understand what you are talking about! The "patient note checker" are different physicians. I am sure there is not just one person scoring your patient note, and I am also sure that if you write a decent note that would pass as a real note, you will be fine.

What I am saying is that though 99.999999 percent times......the patient note checkers and the sps estimate your true clinical skills........0.00001 percent you may get unlucky in the exam...........and the patient note rates I.e the physicians may not score you correctly...........as well as the sps........but that's a remot possibility..................but still a possibility
