Question Best testing center for IMGs ?

Hi

I have applied for CS and got my permit today. I prefer to do it in late September. but the only available dates in that period right now are in Philadelphia ( I know I should have applied a little earlier)

I heard from a lot of people that Philadelphia is not a good idea for IMGs (still don't know why!) ... do you guys agree with this or everyone has his own experience and all centers are pretty much the same ??

Do you recommend I keep watching for available dates in other centers or just stick to this one?

Thanks

First off, I dont know where these rumors are coming from but I keep hearing them. There are lots of threads on this forum that already talk about differences between test centers. Personally, I don't think there are any differences.
Here are a few of these threads:
Best Testing Center for IMGs
Please help anyone!!!! test center!!
Houston v/s LA - for IMGs
Second, since you want to take your test in late September, you have A LOT of time before that. You can change your test date/location for free up until two weeks before the exam. Until then, you will have lots of opportunities to get the date you want at the location you want.
Two ways of looking for dates that have opened up are signing up for the ecfmg email notifications, which works through the Step 2 CS Scheduling Calendar, or using "check4change", an app for firefox.
I personally recommend the first one, I was able to get my desired date with the email notifications. I would recommend taking the exam whereever it is easiest for you (closest/cheapest flight/place to stay/etc).
If you are worried about not getting another test date, just sign up for one now. Like I said, swtiching dates or locations is free up until 14 days before your test!

Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

People should stop opening threads without looking for the topic ...
Learn how to look for stuff yourselves instead of going the easy way and wanting everything given in your mouth seriously people sometimes you piss me off.

To answer your question. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE between centers.. the only one that has a little bit of bias is the Philly center because thats where the majority of AMGs take their exam.

Most IMGs prefer Houston or Chicago, with LA and Atlanta being in between.

Next time DO SOME RESEARCH , stop BEING LAZY

it seems one should apply much early to get a centre of choice though I dont believe in bias theory but if you have relatives near a test centre that would be a great advantage.

So my question is if I want to take cs in april- may next year when should one apply so that dates are no problem?

I dont take it easy with lazy people and liars, if you type the phrase "best cs center for IMGs" in google you will find lots of results, the second linking to this forum and to the links val7 gave you. That shows you didnt search anything.

I wont be arguing with you is a waste of my time, but i wont take it easy with people like you who are supposed to take care of other human beings.

Peace

Up until February of next year, you should be fine....I just had my exam which was in the middle of may and I found no problem scheduling around feb end

plzzzzzzzzz stop the rumors and wasting time in wondering which center is the best. why ppl blame the test center for their own insecurities and mistakes, i have never understood. plz pick a test center only acc to your convenience and there is no second reason for that. IMGs don't have to act absurdly trying to prove that certain centers are biased. This kind of mentality makes it difficult to even prepare for the test.

Hi, i have attended a review in step 2 CS.. This is what the doctors told us regarding testing centers. If you have problems understanding the english language or any accents that they may have, it would be better to take the exam in LA and chicago.. Other factors seem to be the same among centers.. I took it in LA..

Best center is the one where you are comfortable with appearing for the test.

OR you can try Vastu Shastra .
