Smile My experience on 3rd attempt

I got my result yesterday, and I finally passed on 3 rd attempt.
I really appreciate everyone who helped me, including this forum. So now, I hope my experience helps someone even a little .
I failed CS twice in SEP.
Iím an old IMG. My first language is not English.

Preparation:
My 1 st attempt: I used FA(4 th edition), Kaplan live 5 days course, CSE video
Regarding Kaplan course, I know there are good and bad opinions. In my personal opinion, it was useful for me about CIS part.
2 nd attempt: I used FA and Kaplan book ( I got the book from Kaplan 5 days course)
3 rd attempt: I used FA, Kaplan book and I had an English tutor.

About SEP : After I failed on 1 st attempt, I didnít know how I improved my English by myself. I knew I should have had an English tutor or some courses to improve my English, but I couldn't afford to do them on 2 nd attempt.( I had used a lot of money already back then) Fortunately, I found a good tutor before 3 rd attempt. I studied with my tutor twice a week for 3 months. I had my tutor check my grammar and pronunciation about 44 cases in FA. Also how I should ask patients the questions that I need to pose in the course of each of my patient interviews. I found my mistakes. And I had a good study partner on Skype. She gave me her impression about my English. (I recommend that you try to find study partners who are from different country or language as you if you have troubles about English. Because it is difficult for both of you to realize your mistakes each other .)
And I spoke only English at home. It was sort of hard for me, but it was important.
About CIS : I practiced with my partner total more than 200 times (possibly more than 300 times).
About ICE : I practiced a lot as same as CIS. I used practice materials in ECFMG website.I recommend you practice PN with desktop, not with laptop. I donít have desktop at home, so I went to my local library to practice PN with desktop.

Exam day ( 3 rd attempt ): I took my exam in LA. LA center was great. Staffs were very kind and they tried to make us relaxed. SPs were also good and they looked like real patients (I mean they did their job faithfully.)
I tried to relax, but maybe I was nervous, especially first two cases. I practiced a lot before exam ( yes, this was my 3 rd attempt, so I practiced total more than 200 times), so I moved automatically, like knock and introduce myself ... But, I made some mistakes I had never done in practice in each encounter. I focused on SEP, so I made more mistakes than previous exams. I did below : knock, introduce myself, ask ď Are you comfortable in this room?Ē or drape, confirm patientís name, open-ended question, show empathy, eye contact, summarize the history, ask permission before PE, wash hands, ask if SP has any questions or concerns.

After exam : I thought I failed in SEP and ICE. I always did my best in CS, including 1 st and 2 nd attempt. But I couldnít do the things I practiced in real exam. I thought no matter how hard I tried, I could not overcome CS anymore.

Thanks to everybody who helped me, I finally passed. I wanted to give up on the way, especially after 2 nd failure. But to give up was more difficult for me than to keep going. If I give up, my chance to be a doctor in US is zero. If I keep going, itís not zero. I always thought so to motivate myself.
For someone who failed this timeÖ I really know your feelings because I had the same feelings twice. Please donít give up. Your success is almost there. You will be able to feel happy more and more because of experience of failure, if you pass next time.
For someone who still has waited your resultÖ Iím really sorry you have to wait so long. I think the delay has nothing to do with your result. On my 2 nd attempt I got my result in first week of periods, and I failed. I hope you all pass next week.

I hope this experience hopes some people...

@cearamor, beka-CTS
Thank you very much. I hope you pass. I really know your feelings. I had thought I failed since my exam. I was scared of my result. cearamor, I sometimes read your posts. Your posts encouraged me. I hope you will get your good result on this Wednesday.

@perseverance,
I may have made wrong diagnosis and written wrong data gathering in some cases. I don't know if my diagnosis was correct even now. I think many examiners have some wrong diagnosis. I hope you pass.
