Smile My Step 2 CS Experience

Hi everyone !

I passed my cs exam last week and It was a Great feeling!

I do think that almost everyone taking CS exam is apprehensive about the outcomes pre and post exam but most of all this exam is just heavy for the IMGs. now I am just going to give some general and rest exam related advice .I do know that most of you who have been frequenting this form know the jist of preparing so am not going to harp about it much.Still if you guys have any questions please do ask me.

GENERALLY:

Take the exam ASAP , If you have been regular with your clinical work at school and are positive you wanna take the USMLE path then please take this exam soon.Because it is always kinda make or break . So donot let anything limit you on that.

Donot let any partner inavailability limit you.You can find somebody to practice .just know what line of practice to follow and the rest can be done with even one study partner who maybe nonmedical or medical, friend, sibling parent spouse anyone.just go for it.But know the pattern and stick to it.

EXAM:

donot go beyong FA.It works for most it will work for you too.

do mini cases after you are done with practice ones. This way you will know the basics and can just know the stem of the case and figure out the DX.

everything is important! Dx PN , CIS , SEP.....identify which part you wanna work on most or need to work on most then just do it..

No one can tell you if you will pass or not, otherwise the ECFMg would have given this authority to your partner so donot expect people telling you if you can or canot.Make sure you do your best and just jump in then.

take a date towards end of the block makes the wait less painful. I did that still mine was delayed 2 weeks but imagine if i would have taken it way back in march that would have just killed me! so thats just a tip.

Sp , centers are same everywhere please donot worry about that.pick a place where you can be comfortable at. relaxed a day before the exam and have absolutely no worried of travelling that day!!thats just a mess so donot be heroic when you have the exam you have to relax too!

Just know that this is another exam and you will do it too!

best of luck!

definitely agree with this as well! Don't fly to the US the day before, you will be jetlagged and there might be a problem with your flight...

Thankyou water.....

I did have a study partner......what i want to stress on is that donot be conflicted by the fact that you are starting without one. Once you practice a few cases with someone who has passed the CS exam and know the basic pattern it just can then be done with anyone your sibling who may be non doctor/cousin /friend anyone who can spare a couple of hours per day please donot jump to exam without good hold on the pattern and flow, be prepared!.....good luck

Before you ask, please read the official homepage and download the 2013 information booklet. Then you can ask specific questions and we'd all be happy to help as well as we can!

hey thanks!!

I believe you will have to visit the site for any recent changes in exam pattern or ask someone who took it in november or very close to your exam date.

For ICE component in general...was the one i had to work on alot!....i mean i did like 8 -10 cases /day took 3 -4 hours/day . now there are two major bracnches one is PN and other is the encounter in itself .my aim was to know what was the Dx of the patient and in most cases you end up having a reasonable diagnosis if not a set of DD.so you should have good medical knowledge to come out with a DD for C/O in FA.second you should be able to type an eligible PN that not only has all the info but in a way that it makes sense that it is leading to a DD.thats what i did.It helped me.Hope it will help ya too! G'LUCK

hey
congrats on passing!!

i gave cs few days back in atlanta
i screwed up 2 cases badly
first case...i blanked up, missed the diagnosis entirely and wrote 3 ddx of which 1 is related to the system and maybe correct. however, i believe my history and examination was ok
second case...i made a blunder in the pn...1 of the 3 ddx was completely wrong...

Rest cases were ok....might have missed some points in writing pn due to lack of time...also i believe i might have missed counseling about smoking in 1 case...but overall they were ok...

Do u think i will pass??
This wait for results is killing me..

The wait is always long and extremely agonizing... I wish you best if luck , i know you did the best you possibly could. These seem to be usual mistakes some get by making alot more. I hope youll pass.
